Can mapthis use any maps from a already existing gps device? I ask because I tried to do a map that included washington dc to new jersey for a trip I am taking, and it timed out on me at 20%. And I had unchecked all the unneeded tiles and taken off the two farthest out zooms.

Also, I just read that google maps can now be exported to the tomtom gps system, using the tomtom desktop home and then send to the gps through a wired connections, would this be similar to the gmdl? I wonder if it wouldn't work, but you need the tomtom desktop program first

Well, if anyone knows anything, That would be great, but now I will try the gmdl again overnight and see if i have a map in the morning

I'm not sure there are other GPS devices that actually use imagery to display where you are instead of vector data.

I think GMDL has an option where you can resume where you left off or at least download only missing tiles.
