IBM confirms that its well on the way to delivering 32nm chips to its partners in late 2009...

IBM, in conjunction with its development partners (AMD, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd., Freescale, Infineon, and Samsung) today announced that it has achieved a new approach to assist in the production of 32nm processors.

The approach, which could theoretically find itself employed in cheaper and quieter Xbox 360's towards the end of 2009, marks an industry first by using high-k/metal gate (HKMG) process technology in 32nm processors.
