Sony has at long last launched the PS4 in its homeland of Japan.
The ¥39,980 (£234) machine officially arrives on February 22nd – which, as time buffs out there will realise, is in just a few moments (15:00GMT Feb 19th).
The three-month wait was an unprecedented delays for a PlayStation device in Japan, with Sony taking the decision to face off the competition from Xbox One in Microsoft key Western territories.
And it’s a decision that seems to be paying off (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/can-titanfall-turn-around-xbox-one-sales-in-the-uk/0128506).
The console arrives with a launch line-up including Yakuza: Ishin, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends, Nobunaga’s Ambition: Creation, Strider, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, Resogun, Tomb Raider, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and NBA 2K14.
Famitsu (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201402/21048611.html) has some pictures of folk waiting in line earlier today.
The question for Western fans, of course, is whether PSN will suffer any wobbles?
Xbox One is yet to receive a Japanese launch date.
