Aura (http://darkmessiah.byethost13.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=16) has now released Project 4, heres the full release details:

Hi all, Project4 is finally here!

This release comes with a few bugs which I've decided to not get rid of (by doing so I would have delayed Project4), all the known bugs are documented in the readme, so take a look.

The uploaded file contains the Project4 installer, and 3 modules (p4iX.prx, p4i5.prx and p4il.prx) these are required by the installer.

All current custom firmwares 3.10 and above are supported currently by a custom patch, or the "Dirty Hack", when/if 3.80M33 is released I'll work on another patch if its needed, otherwise I'll just allow the installer to use the "Dirty Hack" too if its supported.

The readme is very in depth, it states the procedure for installation, and un-installation, as well as numerous other things, I'd suggest you read it to get a feeling for what is happening, it also gives directions on themes and other things.

The current functions are:

readme wrote:
7.1. Working
· ISO loading.
· CSO loading.
· ISOFs NoUMD mode.
· Editable GUI.
· 3.XX Kernel loading for EBOOT, PRX and ELF files.
· 1.50 Kernel loading for EBOOT, PRX and ELF files.
· PNG loader.
· JPG loader.
· HEX reader.
· UMD loader.
· Internal keyboard (soon to be replaced by Sony keyboard).
· File Copying.
· Change config and flash writing.
· Theme flashing.
7.2. Faulty
· MP3 Player.
· Text Reader.
· File Deletion (Does not delete folders if there are files or folders inside).
· NoUMD compatibility (M33 driver and NP9600).
7.3. Broken
· M3U loader
· USB transfer
· XMB Loader
7.4. Future
· Complete Image Viewer
· Complete Music Player
· Movie Player
· PSP Config Menu
· Wireless Transfer
· PiKey Compatibility
· Replace current font with intraFont style

This has been tested and is working on the Slim PSP as it should be!

Remember to give something back to Project4 and make a theme if you can, it'd be nice to have some choices about the theme

And without futher adue, I give you Project4

What does this add?

@ Xandu:

Doesn't really seem to ADD much yet, but the potential is there. You can't really add to or change the behaviour of the XMB, but if you've replaced it with something more modular, then you've got the framework to do all sorts of fun stuff.

I'd love to see some screenshots and hear from folks who've already tested before trying it myself... Also likely waiting until the MP3 player's patched up, since I use my PSP for music every day at work!

But if this turns out to be a good enough replacement, I'm open to giving it a shot!

The readme says nothing about M33 Firmware, but I'll try it, I have my NAND backed up with my IDStorage, should i do the "change the name" of the backed up file function myself? [i mean the file you get called "nand-dump.bin" that you get when you back up your NAND with pandora, should i change the name of it myself?]

ok, just got it working, there was a bug and the guy re-released the installer, so i got it, and i say hold off on it, until it gets better, it is though a major accomplishment

If that's so then IRShell's an XMB replacement, which it is.

No IR Shell is a replacement shell for the PSP, Project 4 is a whole XMB replacement, aka it is flashed to the PSP and not run off the memory stick in any way. This is a major accomplishment, and it would be awesome if we could see IR Shell turned into the same thing, but seeing the hassle this coder went through on this I highly doubt its possible, as through his work he constantly said he was cramming for memory.

IR Shell would be an awesome XMB replacement though =)

Anyway great work I look forward to future updates, and what support for videos, music, and picture extensions are you going to add?
