Hello!

So tomorrow or the day after I will buy a PSP slim with custom firmware 3.71 m33.. I heard that this can play PS 1 roms, if it can - what are psxpsp roms for? (as both can be dled in some trackers.)

sorry if this is a total noob question, but any good info is appreciated. :)

oh but i just got this for a response in another board
There are also other alternatives, there are some PS1 games that are available to download from the Playstaion store. There are also several PSX games already converted for the PSP here on (tracker name) in the PSPPSX section.

like this for example:

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

Type PSXPSP

Released: September, 1997 Filename: bc-oaops1.part**

Source: PS1 ISO Format: PSP Folders w Eboots

Origin: NTSC|U/C Size packed : 24*20 MB

Ripped: Nothing! Size EBOOT: 671 MB

PAL/NTSC Selector: --- Languages: English

Notes:

This is for use in the 3.02 OE-B firmware, just
put the PSP folder in the root of your memstick and you should
be able to play it under Memory Stick in the Game menu.
Have fun!
PS: It has custom icons, and it's own save folder.

To play Playstation games on your PSP you can either:

Download (for a fee) the game from the store on a PS3. You don't need a customfirmware for this. The amount of available games is limited to what Sony releases.

Rip the game yourself using your computer. This requires a customfirmware (3.71 M33 is recommended) but is free. With this method, you can play ANY Playstation game on your PSP. The best PSX>PSP I've used can be found here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/about60371.html
