Aside from some old community-driven projects (http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/24/htc-hd2-can-now-dual-boot-windows-phone-7-and-android-promises/), however, the relationship between Google's mobile OS and Windows Phone hasn't blossomed to a point where they're officially comfortable sharing a smartphone. Well, they better pencil in a bonding session, because The Times of India reports (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tech/personal/tech/gadgets/special/Karbonn-Mobiles-to-launch-dual-OS-smartphones-in-June/articleshow/31195025.cms)local manufacturer Karbonn (http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/31/125-mips-based-smart-tab-1-jelly-bean/) is set to launch the first such dual-boot handset (http://www.engadget.com/2013/12/23/canonical-dual-boot-android-ubuntu-developer-preview/) by June. With the ink now dry on a deal with Microsoft -- presumably a WP license agreed behind closed doors at MWC -- plans are to offer a range of split-personality devices with professional and tech-savvy types in mind. Perhaps they'll run Windows Phone 8.1 (http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/23/microsoft-windows-phone-8-1-will-come-with-more-hardware-suppor/) right off the bat, too, given the new version's broader hardware support, and show that you needn't create mutant advocates (http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/24/nokia-x-hands-on/) to tempt consumers one way (http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/24/nokia-x-elop/) or another.
