Green Throttle Games (http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/05/green-throttle-games-launch-hands-on/) was late to the Android gaming (http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/03/ouya-review-founding-backer-edition/) platform party (http://www.engadget.com/2013/11/11/gamestick-review/), and paid the price for it -- the company effectively wound down (http://www.greenthrottle.com/) at the end of 2013. However, its efforts may not have been in vain. Google has confirmed (http://pando.com/2014/03/11/google-buys-the-ghost-of-green-throttle-games-as-tv-arms-race-gathers-speed/) toPandoDaily that it has acquired key portions of Green Throttle's business, including its parts, labor and two co-founders. The crew in Mountain View hasn't said what it will do with its new resources, but PandoDaily sources claim that Google wants to refine the Bluetooth controller for its long-fabled (and possibly gaming-focused) TV set-top box (http://www.engadget.com/2013/12/06/google-rumored-to-launch-its-own-tv-set-top-box-under-the-nexus/). Whether or not that's true, the move suggests that Google's interest in games is extending beyond software (http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/24/Google-Play-Games/).
