The top ten titles sell over 1 million units in the last week of the year

Nintendo platforms ended the year in Japan in the same kind of dominant software sales position that they've enjoyed for most of the rest of it as seven of the top ten in the chart in the last week of December were Wii or DS games.

But they did fail to land the last number one of 2007 - that honour went instead to new entry Super Robot Wars OG Gaiden for the PlayStation 2, selling just under 200,000 copies according to data from Media Create.

Wii Fit, Mario Party DS and Final Fantasy IV followed, all selling more than 125,000 units each, while new entry Star Ocean 1: First Departure sold just over 105,000 copies for the PlayStation Portable.

Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy also featured in the top ten, while Dragon Quest IV for the DS broke through the 1 million mark in that week, and ensured a good week for Square Enix.

The full chart for the week ending December 30 was as follows:

1. Super Robot Wars OG Gaiden (PS2)
2. Wii Fit (Wii)
3. Mario Party DS (DS)
4. Final Fantasy IV (DS)
5. Star Ocean 1: First Departure (PSP)
6. Wii Sports (Wii)
7. Haruhi Suzumiya's Promise (PSP)
8. Prof Layton and Pandora's Box (DS)
9. Dragon Quest IV (DS)
10. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
