Dark Alex to release Custom Firmware 3.80M33 Today

MathieuLH let slip on IRC that Dark Alex is to release the 3.80M33 Custom Firmware today.

Heres the details from last night:


The custom firmware 3.80 M33 will be available in a few hours. Yesterday evening on IRC channels agitation was at the height. The unrest appeared to announce the impending release of Custom Firmware 3.80.

Around midnight, and then 0:51 to 1:30, everyone hoped to see the messiah come to the PSP to announce the release of 3.80 M33.

Shortly before 2 am the new tomb: Dark_Alex should not releaser the Custom Firmware M33 tonight but tomorrow.

By contrast, MathieuLh came from the Shan PSPGen (chat) to bring a little news that will please everyone: Dark_Alex just implanted in his new custom firmware updated automatically.

This new function will therefore an update identical to the official firmware, but for custom firmware. As for official firmware, it will be possible to test the presence of an update and download, and install directly via the PSP.

At first glance, these updates will be cumulative and, as for the official, the latest one will upgrade your firmware without having to go through the previous ones.

Thanks again to MathieuLH for having donated a pretty information. What wait until Dark_Alex that pushes the mouse button to bring online a new baby.

As soon as the new firmware arrives it will be here on DCEmu.

Yeah, exactly. Its times like these that make me realize just how lucky we are to have Dark_AleX and others working so hard for the scene. With each impending release I feel like I'm waiting in line for a new version of the PSP to be launched. Its like a kid waiting for Christmas.

Also, I just got a PS3 and have been waiting for 3.80M33 in order to try out Remote Play and all the other ways the PSP can interact with the PS3.

I guess I'll have to put down Resistance: FOM and Ratchet & Clank: Future today in order to experiment with this brand new CFW on my Slim. The new easy update feature sounds pretty cool but the underlying fact with that is it gives good indication that Dark_AleX plans to stay hard at work keeping M33 CFW up to date. It will be exciting to see what he can do with the new SONY firmware featuring Skype.

Alright were have you been?

First, there are no disadvantages. Well, yeah, there is no 1.50 Kernel Support on PSP Slims. But the Phat/Older PSPs are 100% compatible with 1.50.

Avantages of upgrading:

- New Official Firmwares features [Radio, Custom Themes, etc.]
- More current and upcoming UMDs playable
- Better compatibility with POPs
- More features added by DAX [like VSHMenu, Auto-Update, More CPU Speeds, etc..]

Disadvantages:

- None


Well, maybe there's one disadvantage... you won't be unique/special because everyone else is on 3.71 M33 and will update to 3.80. ;)

Ah, i'm pretty sure that's because it was designed for cfw 3.51, so it won't work on 3.71, nothing to do with 1.50.

Hi,

if you get that from running homebrew, you need to make sure it is in the correct folder eg GAME150 or GAME371. If it is a UMD game, you need to turn off any No-UMD plugins from the recovery menu. :thumbup:

Right in that case, go into your recovery menu, then Advanced, thed Advanced Configuration. There are 2 settings there, you may need to play around with them (different combinations of off/on etc.), some isos such as Breath Of Fire need the "plain modules" on for example.

In that case it may have become a little corrupted. Try re-ripping it.

This means that when you have updated to 3.80 M33 you will be able to get FUTURE updates for it via Network Update. You won't be able to update to 3.80 M33 via Network Update...

Ohh, if some people get confused about this they might accidentally update to 3.80 official from 3.71 M33 in the hopes of getting 3.80 M33 via Network Update... This might get messy!

Well I'm excited about the impending release but when I visited DA's site for the first time in a while I remembered the pot leaf logo(it's actually 7 not 5 extentions). According to PSP-GENERATION (http://pspgen.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=5787), 3.80 M33 has been postponed for now due to minor adjustments that need to be done. I think we all agree that it's better to have a fully finished product at the cost of waiting a bit longer. So you can stop refreshing dark-alex.org for now.
