I think it’s standard protocol to say “Here’s an interview with a famous Nintendo employee about the controller that says nothing about the controller,” so let’s just say that again. In this GameSpy interview, Shigeru Miyamoto discusses his philosophy with the creation of the controller. Since Miyamoto helped make the N64 controller, which popularized analog joysticks and rumble packs, the GameCube controller, and now the Revolution, Miyamoto does have something to say. Namely, how he wants the controller to be simple and very intuitive to use. For example:

“What we really want to do is create something that’s not frightening to the user that is usable for a Zelda-type game. We’re going to have to figure out a way to marry both those ideas.”
Very interesting, indeed. So this narrows down the possibilities of the Revolution controller. Sorry, no electrical nodes the brain, it might scare the children.

When I first picked up the gamecube controller I got pissed and threw it against a wall. Now its pretty easy to use.. I wish they would just choose a designe and stick with it...
