Apple devices significantly dominate web browsing in many countries, attracting 65.26 per cent of traffic in the UK alone, with just seven phone models, reports dotMobi.
Of the 101 countries across the world where data is tracked iOS lead in 34, where as Android comes out on top in 67 nations.
Central Europe has proved to be a strong hold for Android with Germany Austria, Hungary and Switzerland showing noticeably higher Android usage.
Eileen O’Sullivan, COO at dotMobi, said: “Although Apple has a stronghold across major markets across the globe, its dominance is not guaranteed. Apple is undoubtedly an aspirational brand, which delivers great products, however the cost of its devices may mean it loses market shared in the long tail.”
Apple does remain strong, even with a smaller range of handsets, however it remains behind other manufacturers such as Samsung, who have the hold on other major mobile markets such as the US, Brazil and China.
O’Sullivan concluded: “Consumers may prefer to purchase a cheaper and trusted local brand that can deliver a similar user experience and functionality – but without the hefty price tag. If so, Apple’s future position as market leader may be at risk.”
