A new build of the PSPTube application for PSP, 14/01/08, has today been released on the official website. It seems to fix a few important freeze bugs, and is a recommended update if you have previous versions installed.

PSPTube, with its smooth interface, lets you stream, and also save, media from various different websites, like YouTube (http://www.youtube.com), Dailymedia (http://www.dailymedia.com), Stage6 (http://www.stage6.com), Veoh (http://www.veoh.com), NicoNico, and Onsen.

Installation:
Make sure you have a custom firmware, such as 3.71 M33-4, installed, and put the PSPTube folder in /PSP/GAME3xx (replace xx with your firmware's version). It runs from the 3.xx kernel. Run it, and choose a network connection to connect to.

To use the login function in Dailymedia, open the configuration file in the archive and plot your user information in their respective places. This will allow you to view media you have to log in to view on a computer.

Controls:
Out of video:
Triangle: Display a menu with different options, such as saving videos.
Circle: Go back to the search panel.
Cross: Play the currently selected video.
Left trigger: Go back one page.
Right trigger: Go forward one page.
Select: Go to next video site search results.

When playing a video:
Triangle: Show or hide the currently playing video's time information.
Circle: Stop playing video and go back to video search results.
Square: Go back to search results while video still is playing. Will split the screen in half if pressed twice.
Left/right D-pad: Choose between 0.5x, 1x and 2x speed.
Start: Pause the video.
Select: Change screen size.

These are still beta builds, but they work extremely good.

Available for download below. Please give your comments on this build.

Thanks to Baboon for noticing it (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=2148002885&postcount=23).

After connecting to a connection in the application (you should see your green WiFi indicator lit), press select until you get to a site of your choice, then press circle to bring up the search panel. Plot in your search keywords and press the start button. You should now get your results up. Read the controller information in the first post from here.

To save a video to your memory stick, highlight a video in your search results, press triangle, and choose Save video. After downloading, this video will now be watchable even if you are not connected to a connection from the Favorites window (press select until you reach it).

It worked for me in the GAMES (not GAME 3xx) folder, if anyone's interested...

Make sure your GAME3xx folder is named correctly. For example, if you use 3.71 M33-4, the folder's name should be GAME371, and GAME352 if you have 3.52 M33-4. The reason I said GAME3xx instead of GAME, is that some people may have their GAME folder's kernel setting set to 1.50. PSPTube will then not work if put in the GAME folder, as opposed to it always working in the GAME3xx folder. Both of them work.

I have it in the GAME folder myself.

I hope not JUST yet. :)

Yes, same here, but it is an updated EBOOT and I haven't had any freezing with it yet. Must've forgotten to update the build date.

Woooooooooooow. I'm missing my mp3 plug-in since updating to 3.80 M33-2, but this YouTube update more than makes up for it. Damn, even the longer videos stay in sync! The videos are perfect basically.

Very very great app for the PSP!

I wonder if there's anyway to stream videos from Veoh through veoh TV with this, so concerts and things like thaž won't be 5 minute previews.

When does it not load? Can you search and get the results up? Does it not search at all? If a video won't load, is it a video you have to log in to watch if you try to watch the same on a computer? If it's the latter, you have to create an Dailymotion account if you don't have one and input the account information in the psptube.cfg file.

Any way to change it to the original aspect ration so the picture's not stretched?

Nevermind. It's select. A little better reading comprehension would fare me well.

You can't just add other sites.

Wouldn't be much use otherwise, would it.

They should make it so you can goto other sites like videos.onsmash.com or better yet someone make the browser in the xmb work with sites like youtube

couldnt someone make a prx that could let you send like mp3s files just like you can send photos via ir and make it so you can go through the xmb while listening to music :D

pkmaximum
January 27th, 2008, 05:32
nah cause PSP Tube itsself is like a player for flv files and such. And he just happened to I guess use part of the open source Links 2 browser or something like that and incorporate it to look up youtube vids, and what other site he decides to incorporate.

No_one_in_particular
January 27th, 2008, 08:42
I thought the whole point of having to use PSPTube++ was cos the PSPs browser wouldn't be able to handle an embedded video ?

There's a 'music.prx' which I've never tried, that might be what you're after ? Other than that iRshell lets you listen to music whilst doing other things.

Finally, sending mp3s through IR is, from what I've read, a laborious task, as it simply takes too long.

Not sure why you've asked about the last two in this thread, like.

New Version of PSP Tube that has experimental video out support I'm guessing for PSP Slim's only obviously =P Someone can translate the rest of the text I guess to see if its even worth updating for the PSP PHAT.

It runs, but doesn't operate at all on PSP-100x. This is exclusively for PSP-2000. QJ's translation mentions, Win, Tails of Shh adults only, please your own risk. Dunno what that is.

No_one_in_particular
January 27th, 2008, 19:24
Yeh, even with the translation I still don't understand half of it. So TV-Out's what's kept SofiyaCat busy...

Shame it's all for the slims only, like.

This version is almost a year old.

First of all, I'd try using Ultimate PSPTube 1.7 (http://dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=179135) instead. It's the latest official version with a vast amount of additional video sites.

If it still doesn't work, then yes, I'd update to 5.00 M33-4, which I recommend even if it does work.

Good luck.
