Many people have asked the “route generation” feature. We know it is hard to implement, and it is not that useful. For me, getting routes from google is a bit of pain either. The most desired feature to me is to draw the route by ourselves. It is like the enhanced version of the current “set marker”. It is too simple right now - we can’t either edit the waypoints or save it when finished. My idea would be that we design a wizard like module to let people find pois via the map, or geodata search; connect them with lines; freely add, move, or delete waypoints. What I want to see is: we draw the route sketches on the large-scale map first, then zoom in map to work on the details. The routes can be saved as custom route files and no need to enable the voices. The routes do not need to be accurate, but the module has to be easy to use. I personally would never use google to get routes again if we have this handy feature.
It sounds a big plan, but we already have the “set marker” feature. Maybe we can find some custom drawing homebrews and then borrow some ideas from them.
