Dark Alex (http://dark-alex.org/) has just released Custom Firmware 3.80 M33-4 (update)

http://digg.com/playstation/Dark_Alex_releases_3_80m33_3_Firmware

Digg This Hot News (http://digg.com/playstation/Dark_Alex_releases_3_80m33_3_Firmware)

Requeriments:
3.80 M33 (http://dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=85553) or 3.80 M33-2 (http://dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=85614)

Instructions: Copy UPDATE folder to /PSP/GAME folder and run it

Changes:

- Fixed synchronization issue that plugins check code caused in PSN NP9660 original games (fixes 0x80010013 error)
- Added a couple of libs to the nids resolver.
- Added some internal changes required by incoming 3.80 popsloader plugin.

Edit by wraggster - hes updated it to 3.80 M33-4

M33-4:
- galaxy.prx was changed to a new version that is giving problems with slow memory sticks.
Reverted back to previous versions. This didn't only affect decrypted isos running in NP9660 mode.

Instructions: Copy UPDATE folder to /PSP/GAME folder and run it

Dark ALex has also released popsloader the PSX Emu loader for m333.80 Firmware :)

Instructions: As usual, copy seplugins to memory stick, activate popsloader plugin in recovery,
and put sony pops files in seplugins/popsloader.

Requires 3.80 M33-3 to be installed

Can you upgrade straight from 3.80 M33 or do you have to upgrade to 2 then 3 then 4? I havent even upgraded to 3.80M33 yet, have been waiting for this.

Yeah I saw that now, M33-4 is just a quick fix. Thanks.

And you dont have to update sequentially, just on at least 3.80 m33

Thanks, but I will still have to apply the 1.5 kernel patch to run 1.5 homebrews right?

Yep. Slightly annoying for PSP fat owners but I think the idea is to encourage coders to make their homebrew compatible with PSP slim. I was annoyed enough by it to fix my stuff :)

Question: if i get the new popsloader thing will it erase or corrupt any of my data from the past popsloader?

So if we did network update on M33-2 and are now at M33-4 are we screwed? Since now I see that it says we need M33-3 to install (although it worked fine...)

My God, these 3.80 CFW updates seem to be coming in real fast. I've only just updated to M33-2 to see this. I'd better get it and catch up then...

urherenow
January 16th, 2008, 23:28
reset to default settings before flashing the firmware. Then you'll never have to worry about such things. It only takes a minute of your time, vice the several (or hours even) for someone to reply to you on a web forum.

on another note: all these releases that use the update folder make that MUX homebrew thing all the more usefull! I need to thank that guy again :D

I've been going through a retro phase and started playing Dragon Warrior 7 on my PSP running 3.71-4. Worked fine. I then upgraded to 3.80-1,2 and 4. The game will start but not load my save games. I started a new game, but it locked up after a few minutes. Has anyone else seen this sort of behavior?

I have Megaman X 6 already on my PSP (its a PSX game)... What do I need popsloader for? The game and the saves are running fine along with everything else. I used autopopstation4 to make Megaman X 6 and that psphacking101 video for instructions on how to make it

No need for that. If you are on 3.80 M33, the 3.80 pops files are already on flash. You would just need the pops files for firmwares LOWER than 3.80.

Aw... come on! Many talented hackers invented programs that even Sony denied to the fat and they did not make anything to work homebrew on slim?

I´ve hear of something like DevHook... this works on slim 3.80 m33? (I think it might work like the kernel 1.5)

i got the same problem, dark alex should have stated that if u wanna play homebrew even if the network feature update is in u still have to install the 1.50 kernal b4 u network update to 380m33-4-i guess were both stuck since we skip the kernal thinking it would of been in the update damnnnnnnnn:mad:

hey i just updated to fw 3.80 m33-4 and now my supernientdo or any of my games wont load... keep getting error saying game cannot be started.... 80020148 is this because of new fw??/ help anyone plz???

Were they working on FW 3.71 or whatever you had? Have all the emulators that you are running been updated to run on FW 3.xx?

If they have been updated for FW 3.xx, it's simple. Just make sure that in the configuration in the M33 Recovery Menu your kernel is set to 3.80 and I don't know if it makes a difference for emulators but also set the UMD mode to: Sony NP9660 -NO UMD-

Now if your emulators have not been updated to run on fw 3.xx then make sure you install the 1.5 kernel addon and set your kernel to 1.5 in the configuration menu in the M33 Recovery Menu.

Now my problem is this. I decided to upgrade to 3.80 and installed update 4 because I heard that this fixed the slowdown issues but I just tried Sega Mega Drive Collection and the intro movie lags. I did format flash1 and reset settings and even format the memory stick and still the same. I tried also all the other drivers that don't requiere UMD and I got the same result.

I have a Sandisk 4 Gig stick. No matter what it just runs shoppy. So I guess update 4 did not fix this problem.

Also when I try Normal -UMD required- which I heard works fine. I get this error when trying to load the game: The game could not be started. (80010013). Even though I have a movie UMD in. Unfortunately I don't have a game UMD I can try. That's with kernel 3.80 and 1.5

Well you would use the pandora battery trick with the magic memory stick or whatever is called. There has to be some instructions on this forum. I did it before. I found the instructions in the afterdawn forums

drock82

is there another way-only have 1 battery-i just want the 1.5 kernal but i updated pass m33-2:(

saulin
January 17th, 2008, 05:07
You should be able to do it just with one battery. Once you have converted your battery to the pandora battery you can convert it back to normal by booting just using the AC power adapter and running the application to and choosing the option to convert it back to normal.

Again you will need to follow the guide. And I don't think there is any other way to downgrade from 3.80. Also are you sure that the kernel addon only work with update 2?

Solidsnake3000

um if I'm not mistaken get the 3.71 m33 update and put the update eboot in a folder called recovery and put it in the game folder then go on recovery mode oo the psp and choose the option that says recover it should be the third option

When anyone releases something, someone might find a bug or problem that the developer missed and they released a quick fix if its important. Just look at the 3.52 M33-4. It was released 4 times as well.

Well remember that your PSP is now flashed with FW 3.80 so I'm sure you would need the official 3.71 firmware eboot somewhere in the memory stick and it might require to have a especific name too. I have never done it this way so I can't help you but just remember that when you updated to FW 3.80 you put 380.PB in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE

So you didn't need 3.80 M33-2 to install the 1.5 kermel addon after all.

Well I went back to 3.71 M33-4. The only reason I wanted to try 3.80 is because I wanted to see if I could get some more PSX games like Speed Punks for example working. I'm not even sure if Speed Punks is now playable with the new popsloader.

Hopefully Dark Alex will fix the iso driver issue. Or we'll see if it's fixed when 3.81 is released.

Can someone tell me what I need the popsloader plugin for?

Well Sony keeps working with the PSX compatibility and sometimes new firmware updates make other PSX games work but break others. So with the popsloader plugin and with the right files it will let you choose the pops that were included in each firmware so if I game got broke with firmware 3.80 you can use the pop that was used on firmware 3.73 or 3.72 or even back in 3.50 or 3.4 etc...

So I have MMX6 for my PSX game, it works fine. Some other games may stop working? So I have to install that popsloader plugin and all the future PSX i rip and place on my PSP will start working? Won't I need "pops" files? If I do, where do I get those from? (sorry for all the questions, i'ma noob)

This is a very quick update. It was only yesterday I installed update 2. gamefreak199101, no 1.50 kernel can not work on a slim PSP at this time being and most likely never will.

I checked the network update when I booted up my psp this morning, and was greeted with M33-4. How awesome is it to get the update before checking any sites?

Sadly music.prx still causes freezing in various places, but fixing the memorys tick problem is much more important, and hopefully a new music.prx will come out soon.

It's a plugin that can be enabled in (homebrew) games and in the VSH. It allows you to play music from your music folder at virtually any time.

Personally, I favour iR Shell and would wait for a patch for it to work on 3.80 M33, if it ever comes. My PSP isn't the same without. :)

I'm not quite sure but is it possible that DA could include a option to have the USB charge like the PSP Slims? I'm not sure if hardware wise the PSP1000's (fat) could do it but I was just wondering because I liked the idea when I use a friend's slim the other day.

I've been having a hell of a time trying to register my 3.80 m33-4 PSP to my PS3 to start doing some remote play. Can anyone help me out? I don't know what I could possibly be doing wrong.
I have my PSP hooked up to my PS3 via USB and it's in USB connection mode but whenever I hit the "ok" button my PS3 it says there are no PSPs connected.

Note that under the XMB my PS3 doesn't recognize my PSP as a PSP, it recognizes it as any old "USB Device ()." I'm guessing I have to get it to recognize as an actual PSP but I don't know how I would go about doing that. I thought 3.80 m33 was supposed to fix this.

jetkey885

O.k I've solve the issue. But for those who don't know and have the same problem here's the solution. To add the M33 3.80 1.50 kernal to M33 3.80-4 download the add-on. Make a folder in your PSP/Game/ and give it any name you want but not the name UPDATE (exp: H:/PSP/GAME/DUMP). Exact the add-on files and put it in the folder you've just created. Now up the 1.50 official firmware in the root directory of your memory stick and rename that firmware to 150.PBP. Now run the add-on from your psp and you're done. Hope that help anyone with problem with the add-on. :)

I've successfully installed 3.80 M33-5, I can run homebrew and regular UMD games but for some reason, commercial games or game demos will crash after the PSP splash screen and turn off the PSP. I have been trying with all the Lororoco demos, the Warhammer demo, and also the Go!Edit application and none of these work. Does anyone have an idea how to enable these ?
