downgrading firmware?

I dont have a psp yet (september 15 white psp yipee) but it will most likely be version 2.00 firmware....so i want to downgrade the firmware to 1.5 is this possible?

ok next question, if by some miracle the psp i get is 1.5, what size memory card should i get (512mb+game or 1gb and wait for gta)

really depends on what u plan to do with the psp, for instance, i only use it really to run homebrew and emulators, and that has taken only about 130 of my 512 megs(tho they rip u off and u have more like just under 500megs in all actuallity)
though if u plan on using neocd and having a lot of games on it, your would need a pretty hefty card, as metal slug 1 and 2 together took 300 megs of the card, until i decided it isnt worth it and just deleted it
or, if u plan on having movies on your stick, i would definately recommend a 1gig, as quality really suffers with smaller sizes
so its really compltely up to you and depends on what u wnat to do w/ your psp

you said you were getting the white one. That will come with 2.0 firmware preinstalled so even if you get the 1 gb card, you wont be able to run the emulator on the white psp.

the value pack will probably have 2.0 on it now anyway because they should be installing 2.0 on it. If you buy it now you have a chance at 1.0/ 1.5 but the longer you wait the less chance you have. The white one will deffinatley not run it.

when you're buying a PSP look at the box and by the serial number if it has a B at the end, it doesnt have 1.5

you don't need to on 1.0, you don't even need the to folders or any psp tool. just drop the eboot and everything in the one folder. 1.0 is more conveinient that the kxploit.

pretty mcuh. Each has advantages and disadvantages. 1.5 can play different games though, like coded arms. 1.5 will probably be more handy in the short run.

WOW!!!...anyways...1.5 can play some of the more recent games like Coded Arms and a couple others that require a 1.5 firmware. That's the only advantage to having a 1.5 firmware psp. You can play more of the recent games. There's still a few new import games that don't require a 1.5 update but majority of them do require a 1.5 firmware to run now. I have a 1.0 firmware and love it, but I feel that eventually if i ever want to play new games like Ys, and Popolocris when they come out I will have to at least update to 1.5. If I was you I wouldn't go through Lik-Sang or anyother place for that matter cause you have no say in what firmware version they carry. It could be a 1.51 or 1.52 and you'll be screwed. Go to EB games or Gamestop and do what other people say. Look at the box of the psp and see if it has an A or B on the back of the box.

Oh...sorry I forgot you weren't in the US. I just hope the one's you do get are at least 1.0 or 1.5. Does Lik-Sang say they have 1.0 or 1.5's left? I would hate for you to pay all that money and end up with a 1.51 or something. Play-Asia and NCSX are some other places you might want to try.

I have downsampled the neo geo cd games mp3 music to 32 kbs mono which is fine for the psp. the 6GB was down to 2,8 GB !

so I have a 1 GB card with my 30 fave neogeo cd's for less than 1 GB and my 50 fave pc engine/genesis/snes games on it too.

yeah, but the game software has certain region codes in it i think, if its region code 0 it will play on any psp, but if its a 1 or 2, then it will only play on a US/JP or something like that, im not compltely sure on this tho

I saw an "A" branded PSP on the shelf a target so I snatched it up real quick! It apprently had been on open box return so it was missing almost eveything, which I didnt find out until I got it home. It was hilarious trying to take it back to target and tell them I wanted all the extras but didnt want to switch out the system. They kept trying to get me to take a whole new system. Luckily they ended up just letting me swicth the guts of the two boxes, so now i have a 1.50 system will all new accessories.

Yeah, Target is where I've had the most luck finding 1.5 version PSPs. I got one for my little brother the other day, and they had quite a few left. Of course, these are just the Targets in my area, but it wouldn't hurt to try there If you want one.
