Flashlinker Europe (http://www.flashlinker-shop.com/product_info.php?ref=30&products_id=552&affiliate_banner_id=1)have today posted that they have Silver DS Lites with FlashMe Installed, good for those who want it but for me i dont want to be putting custom firmware on my DS, each to their own i suppose.

What are the benefits of FlashMe on a DS now ?

The benefits? The emergency if-all-else-fails boot system, just in case a new homebrew virus appears. You can use slot 2 cards with no slot one card if you don't have one, and you can run unsigned code over wireless.

It's not as useful as it was before, but I'd rather buy a flashed DS than a non flashed one.

I use a 3 in 1 and ez5 with moonshell. Don't see the need for a flash me anymore. NDS roms+homebrew apps, emus and games are readily availible with dldi support. Win32 dldi patcher etc. flash me isn't really needed anymore. As far as virus is concerned its not really pratical considering the majority of users use retail carts. No one orders stuff or uses private info on the ds much so it's just not pratical.

this would have been useful to me if i hadn't already gone and bought a new silver ds

There's still the removal of the health and safety warning screen, which I find very convenient.

There aren't too many benefits to a flashed DS, but I still prefer it.

1) No warning screen.
2) BrickMe protection.
3) Back up commercial games to Slot2 without swapping.

These three things make it worth it, IMO.
