Changes in version 4
- Installer now checks if user has a custom theme installed, and ask him to disable it before running the program.

- the PSN DRM file in flash2 (act.dat) is now backuped during ms creation and restored in the unbrick.

- flash2 is now formatted too.

- Now installs 3.80 M33-5 instead of 3.71 M33-3.

I have a few questions about this:

do i put all of the updates on the root of the ms?
will i need to do any hard modding to the battery? And im not supposed to close the pandoras box program throughout the whole process right?
and is there any way that i can end up bricking the second running psp (its my friends and is running on 3.71 m33-2)
and all the files i will be needing are right on this page, right?
thnx

Bobtentpeg
January 26th, 2008, 16:33
Yes the updates go on the root unless otherwise specified
no, you dont need to hard mod, just flash an eeprom which can be unflashed aterwards
no dont close the program until there are no more command prompt windows
no you can brick the other PSP
all the files are linked from this page

Seriously, no need to quadruple post. And read the guide, it says 1.5 PSPs work for this.

and I dont know why it fails, if you give me an error I might be able to help.

next time edit your original post instead of posting right after yourself

Great Guide. I just have a couple of questions. I have unbricked the phat psp, and I have a pandoras battery for the phat. I now need to unbrick a slim. Can I use the same pandoras battery that I already have? The battery is an 1800mah phat versions. Do I need a slim battery, or can I use this phat one in the slim to unbrick it? I am assuming that I just need to redo the Pandora's battery installer part to recreate the memory stick?
Thanks for your help.

My Pandora and Magic MS currently install 3.71M33-2 so is there an easy way to make the Magic MS install 3.80M33-5 without the need to go through the full process of making another Magic MS?

Do I just add the 3 PBP's to the root and then run DCv4?

The reason I ask is because I have my battteries back up eeprom on the Magic MS and dont want to delete it and as I have no idea were it is on the MS i dont want to loose it!

Thanks

spoon_key

move the eeprom to your comp
and remake the stick, thats the only way

But it says in the DC readme:-

Installation:

**
- If you have already a pandora ms, don't do this part. Otherwise,
format an ms using c+d mspformat or any other tool that allows to move
partition to ~250kb from first sector

**

As I already have an MS surely I dont need to delete anything? but just do the next steps?

**
- Copy despertar_cementerio to PSP/GAME/

- Download 1.50, 3.40 and 3.80 update eboots and copy them to ms root with
150.PBP, 340.PBP and 380.PBP names.

- If you have a PTF custom theme set, quit it before running the program.

- Use the app under a cfw with 2.x or 3.x kernel (be sure that kernel is
selected on recovery to the correct one (2.x or 3.x))

- Once finished, u will have msipl.bin on root. If you already have a pandora
ms, you don't have to do this step (ipl doesn't changes lol), otherwise,
use c+d msinst to install ipl on ms; or use dd command from unix, or any
hex-edit program to write on sector 16 on the physical drive.

- Now you can delete 340 and 150 PBP's, as they won't be used more; but 380.PBP
will be used for unbricker, so don't delete it.

- Now you have an universal pandora ms ready to go

**

Thanks for your reply

Your still remaking the stick spoon.

lopcrm7, do you have your PSP connected to your cmputer when your running thi with an MS in

spoon_key
February 3rd, 2008, 17:19
Your still remaking the stick spoon.

Ok i think I get it now.

I dont need to reformat the MS using mspformat and dont need to use msinst to install the ipl as these are already done.

I just need to get the PBP's and DCv4 and then run it and thats it?

If this is the case my eeprom should still be on the MS as I am not formatting?

Sorry for being so dense

Many thanks again

I have followed the tutorial and run despertar cementerio, but when I reboot my 3.90m33 psp to test if pandora works, it just runs the battery normally and doesn't bring up the pandora menu that usually comes up when u put the battery in?

Fixed:
I tried the tutorial again with my official psp battery, and it worked. Which leads me to believe that pandoras battery is not compatible with my spare 3600mah battery.

Every one !!! Help! This is the first time ive ever asked. Normaly I can get it done or Figure it out myself. But this is a dire situation. It starts out with my psp going bonkers using the CF 3.8-5. So i decide to update to the CF 3.9 but it. Instead it had downloaded and installed the official firmware. OMG!!! Don, Don, Donnn!!! [close up on scared eyes shifting from side to side] So I do a bit of research and make my pandora battery hard wired of course. My only one but I can buy one later. I find a way to make the magic memory stick using my computer. I Dont use my PSP at all, Why? because I tried out the Pandora's Battery on it but nothing happend. Later I turn it on again and I get the Blue wave screen with the Loading little circle thing in the bottom right hand corner. There's nothing else on the screen. No i did not have the memory card inserted before when I tried out the battery. I thought it would automattically bring up a different screen that might of said something like Service Mode. So any who - I make the stick, remember, with out the PSP, I used the computers memory card reader. Put it in and then the battery, with out the psp being pluged in. It starts up reads the card and the same 'ol blue screen comes out. Thats it, thats all that happens. Now FYI I made the Battery my removing the pin, I carefully broke it off with a knife. the battery was drained before i did it. It seems to have worked because the PSP turns on automatically when I insert the Pan Battery. So Can any one tell me whats going on and help? Is this blue screen the screen of death? Is my battery working the way it should be? Is any one going to read this?

Bobtentpeg
March 19th, 2008, 17:23

Thanks for the fast reply!!! I'm Possitive it is on the official software. This I know for sure. You see the problem started with the m33 3.8-5 firmware started to act up. I could get in to the CF config screen by holding R but when I tried to enter the Configurations sub-menu it would just turn off. Not restart but turn off. Every thing had apparently reseted etself. I couldnt play hombrew or anything a CF helps u do. So the automatic download for the upgrade to the next CF was also off. it downloaded the official firmwar. After I had checked the system setting. It didnt have m33 included in its version name. Not only that but I couldnt access the CF config screen. And for the memory stick I fallowed the on screen instructions. I Tried many different ways to make the magic stick but theres always a problem when im fallowing instructions I cant do the remove from PSP parts because I cant use my PSP. so its from a card reader. I cant download the file 14749_TOTALNewbieasyInstallerPandorasmenu.rar from QJ is there a mirror? or did they update the file and its called something else. I even did it manually and it didnt work. So please tell me what im doing wrong.

Getsu Yorokai
March 20th, 2008, 14:24
Sorry I didnt understand that last message. But some new developments have arrrived. Im in the library and found some one with a psp. they lent it to me. I downgraded it to 1.5. It had 2.82 OF. I make another pandora battery, just making sure mine worked. They both work the same. So I assume my hardmod was successfull. I return the other one to normal. I make the magic stick. put in the battery but nothing happens. The green light turns on but thats it. no light comes on for reading the memory card. So today im going to try and make the Magic stick using another computer that has win xp because mine has vista. either way ive tried many different ways in making the memory stick and nothing ever happens. Hopefully this will help. Any comments or thoughts will be highly appreciated. Keep in mind I have done every thing correct. I fallowed the instructions and tutorials to the "T". So can it be something else? ;) Thank u all who are helping!!! :D

Thans bob, You were correct. And for future people who need help.

* If your screen has the waves and the wait circle in the bottom right corner - its bricked. *

* If you Make your Pandora battery without a homebrew psp - when you put it in if nothing happens on your PSP exept the green power light comes on. Then you made it right. There is nothing wrong with it. *

* I had no success in creating a Magic memory card without, 1-another psp, and 2-a computer with windows xp. So if you have vista, good luck with that!!!! *

Again thanks you two for helping I got lucky and found another psp with CF. And it turned out the only thing I needed was a computer with WIN XP!!! But for those poor people with only a bricked PSP and a computer running WIN Vista ....... someone should make a tutorial for them specifically in mind. With tons of pictures. Some one who really knows what they are doing 100%, Like I dont know, Team C+D. Go team!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never Mind Every body!!!! It didnt work!!! I can get to the CF menu but not the xmb, whats up with that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi its me again can you help me out. It doesnt seem to wanna work, everything loads but when i turn it on it doesnt have an xmb, but i can acess m33 CF menu, even in the blue screen with the waves but no icons i can press select and have the VSH menu come out

NVM i installed the 1.5 kernel and already installed 3.80M33 on my PSP slim, ty for the tutorial and it works like charm. One thing u did miss is the renaming of the 3.80 pbp to 380.PBP Also u should prob add how to install kernel 1.5 to Phat PSPs so people dont freak out when they cant load the battery creator

Actually it looks like a moderator edited my post. Previously I had set up the 380.PBP on a freeserver for faster downloads for all involved. But now it points it QJ

It doesnt seem to wanna work, everything loads but when i turn it on it doesnt have an xmb, but i can acess m33 CF menu, even in the blue screen with the waves but no icons i can press select and have the VSH menu come out
Whats going on?!?!?

Alright, almighty bob, I am in need of your assistance. Your tutorial is for the 3.80 firmware, I am assuming it also works with the 3.90 firmware?

Drego once on 380 M33 you can use the network update feature to update straight to 390 M33

or you can follow this guide replacing the 380 eboot ad M33 files with the 390 eboot and M33 files

I've got a serious problem.
I want to unbrick a PSP of a friend.
My psp is 3.90 m33-3.
I used the guide but whenever I try to run Pandora Battery Creator it just says:"Game could not be started(8002014C)"
I don't know what to do!I've changed the kernel to 1.50 but nothing happened.
Can anyone help :(?

did you install the 1.5 addon to your own firmware? since you might need it

I don't get what I did wrong. My pandora battery is working fine, I got my psp phat downgraded to 1.50, but when I try to load Despertar del Cementerio, I get "The game could not be started (80020001)
I have the 380, 340, 150 in the root all renamed right, I just don't know what I am doing wrong. I made my pandora battery in 3.40oe if that makes any difference.

and if it has to do with a certain addon i really dont know what it means.

Oh also I tried holding down the right trigger while the unit starts but it never boots me into a recovery mode.

please help me out

1.5 doesnt have recovery...
and the version of 1.5 installed by pandora is a slimmed install so it wont run a lot of homebrew, but the 352 M33 installer works great

hi im new, i keep looking for tutorials but cant find any which dont require hardmoding the battery to make the pandoras battery. i got a slim psp 3.71 and an additional phat battery. is there a way to make the pandoras battery without hardmoding it and without a homebrewed enabled psp? or does the homebrew enabler work in this situation? i tried using the enabler and then insert a phat battery and run the pandora maker thing but i just got an error.

NO, you should really read first. It must be softmodded by a homebrew compat PSP
