Dark-Alex releases 3.90 M33

All right people, Dark_Alex (http://www.dark-alex.org/) has done it again and released 3.90 M33 for the PSP. As it seems, it did not take him long to crank out this update. You can download it here or use network update on a 3.80 M33 enabled PSP. The full changelog and readme is as follows below:


3.90 M33

Requirements:

Installation requires a PSP with 3.52 M33-3 or higher.

Instructions


Copy the UPDATE folder into /PSP/GAME/
Get the 3.90 sony update from somewhere, and put it in same folder, with name "390.PBP". Alternatively, you can let the installer to download for you via wifi.
Run it, the update will be done by Sony updater. At the end when you are asked to reboot the
PSP pressing X or O, do it.

3.80 -> 3.90
March33 NO UMD: fixed (yet another) bug related with exiting with home. (infinite semaphore wait)


Changes in updater:

The degeneration check and correction of IDS keys happens too in 3.71 now.
Added code to download 3.90 PBP from net via wifi. Note that his code is not yet 100% stable, it may crash when selecting AP. In that case, reinit the installer.
L+triangle has been restored as method to bypass battery. If you already have 390.PBP keep those buttons pressed until you see "Veryfing 390.PBP". If the 390.PBP is being downloaded bia wifi, press those buttons at the end of download until you see the previous sentence.

ok was fast but found a problem with the updater downlaods the main bit then when you go in it give the option to download 390.pbp but the psp just shuts off after you select the connection meaning the auto update isnt working.

it works on either due to the way it update it picks up the hardware and installs the correct version but if you have a fat you should get the 1.5 addon.

nope fat doesnt get skype as it doesnt have enough memory to run it all you can hope is some1 manages to reverse engineer it into an addon that will work with the fat but even then the hardware in the headphone socket isnt ment to be capable of working with the headset either.

its only some mem card with the problem and all you have to do is format the card with the psp then the change is applied to the card and it works again. but then my sandisk 4gb hasnt had a problem yet but my 2gb sony was slow.

I was just hoping the memory requirement was simply "This application won't run due to lack of memory" and simply removing that error message would make it work. The reason I think they wanted it for the Slim was because they wanted Skype to work during gaming as well.

i wouldnt be so sure the first time it didnt work just froze after the connection.

the second time it downloaded the patch and complained the file was wrong

the third time its worked its even in the patch notes its buggy

the slim can use any headset but the serial port that the slim has is differant to the fat one that is also why the slim can do tv out and the fat cant. the differance is enough to give the slim version the extra features that wernt even thought of when the original came out.

just looked into its not out yet but its done by british telecoms so asuming its a uk only thing. but it is ment to do video chat with the gocam when it comes out and doesnt say anything about slim only.

Okay everything works fine for me except I have found a bug. Unlike other custom firmwares, when the update comes the "GAME3xx" folder would update with the new custom firmware. But in 3.90 I changed the folder from GAME380 to GAME390 and the game3xx applications disappeared. It just seems that you have to keep it set as GAME380 to get them to re-appear but I just figured someone should know so it's corrected.

divx shouldnt be too hard to put on a fat its just a case of if sony can fit it in the smaller memory on the fats lets hope they can they should just try to convert mobile phone versions as they do the job and probly use less power.

the best is the one that works with new games and plays the hombrew so once the games start coming out needing 3.80 or 3.90 if you want to keep playing the new ones 3.71 stops being good.

some people are claiming they are slower due to the memory stick patch in 3.80 meaning alot of the smaller cards need reformatting to work full under the new system as it is being changed to accomodate larger cards. the fact is people dont understand this and would rather just complain about something that has a easy quick fix.

3.90 m33 is good but after you go to 3.80 or above reformat the card as it will change how the boot is setup fixing the speed issues even tho my 4gb red sandisc card never got the problem.

the new auto update doesnt work till you are on atleast 3.80 so you cant use it as you mayas well just skip 3.80. but the go messenger isnt out yet but since its in 3.90 im asuming its going to be soon.

Custom Themes for 3.80 M33 are working on 3.90 M33.

But if you're using a Slim, the Skype icon won't show up after you install a custom theme(prx, not the ptf).

Looks like the 380 folder name was not updated to Game390.

My question is why is a "Game3xx" used at all?

Well since you have upgraded to OFw (original firmware) 3.90 you'll need a pandoras battery... you can buy one off ebay or a place that carries em near you OR find someone who has CFW (custom firmware) to make you a pandoras battery with their psp

Psp-hacks has the 1.5 firmware download and put your emulators in the GAME150 folder, PSX games in GAME, and 3.xx kernal homebrew such as iRShell or PSPTube in GAME380.
