The origin of any universe crossover, be it videogames, comics or other popular culture media, is the nagging notion of any fan who wonders what if? Indeed, what if a number of heroes from totally different worlds would try to stare each other down in a challenge and fight it out, utilizing their own unique abilities? Who would stand and who fall in the ensuing mayhem? In the gaming department, there have been excellent echoes to fans pondering the crossover idea in the past, be it SNK vs. Capcom, Marvel vs. Capcom and most recently the fantastic RPG Namco X Capcom.

Now what's also known as Shonen Jump Superstars, is a collaboration between Japanese Jump magazine and Nintendo, bringing more than 150 (!) characters from Naruto, Dragon Ball, One Piece and 24 other Jump manga properties to the Nintendo DS in a Super Smash Bros. style Beat'em Up! Before we go into more detail on this absolutely fascinating clash event, we'd like to very happily report that we've received Jump Superstars today and preorders are already taken care of. New orders for this summer highlight are very welcome of course, the game is now available within 24 hours and ships for just US$ 49.90 (Free Shipping Worldwide of course!). To top even this exciting release, Nintendo celebrates the coming of Jump Superstars with a new Red Edition of the Nintendo DS system (a fiery beauty!), which we'll expect to have in stock in a couple of hours from now...

Jump Superstars is probably the most anticipated game of Summer 2005 and broke the 300,000 pre-orders mark in Japan already some weeks ago. Import game lovers and the whole western Otaku crowd have been taken by storm by it as well. No surprise, since we are talking a title of truly massive proportions here: the more than 150 characters from the pages of Jump come from 27 different anime series and appear either as playable fighters or secondary figures with cameo roles as assistants. Now imagine Son Goku telling Yugi Moto to shove his cards (are we getting carried away?), or lead Ichigo from Bleach to teach Dr. Slump a lesson or two, sword-style. The possibilites are almost endless, now what if Naruto meets Shaman King and the two characters are super-pissed already and...err, moving on.
