This post is a list of the emails availible for companies that spam our forums. Every new company to do so will be shamed here. Users are encouraged to protest them in any way you see fit (email asking to stop, setting fire to things, prayer, namecalling, whathaveyou).

Each company has been verified to spam our site on their own (IP addresses matching ranges registered to them, not people spamming without their consent).

The two I have posted make cookie cutter software for converting video to/from iPod, psp, whatever. Surprisingly a lot of people don't realize there are plenty of free tools to do this, and thus buy them.

I am pretty far into it, i have only been coding in the summers and in breaks but i have decided just to release all my games when they are 100% done because it wont get such a negative perception on other sites if it's done

Can we add bluebolshi@(nospam).hotmail.com to the list then, that guy has brought more useless spam bots to this site than any other, and kept them against universal condemnation.
He may be the owner of the site, but those bots are still the worst spam offenders here.

Wraggster: You have/had my respect for creating such a great site and the community it has helped develop, but those things are working hard to destroy all you have done.
It's getting harder by the day to find real threads that I may find interesting/be able to help in.

I saw a new bot yesterday 'RSS_newsbot' or something similar, if we're going for apt names then they should all be named 'content-obfuscating-botX'.

More than 99% of the spam is the result of the bots wraggster had chosen to introduce not unsolicited advertising bots.

The only real hope of getting rid of them is for more members to start complaining loudly about them and their negative effect.

I point people to dcemu and qj when they were looking for a good homebrew site, more and more they don't bother with dcemu and stick to qj as its much easier to find homebrew content/downloads.

The mass spamming news bots obviously aren't here because any members want them, it must somehow increase ad revenue by making it look like there's more activity, regardless of how irrelevant and unpopular most of it is.

Updated with some new things. The newest site I added ( ipod-psp-video-converter.com) actually has downloads there. It would really be a shame if someone were to download their self-hosted program 30 (or 3000 times).

You should edit and unparse all of the links...

Posting direct links increases traffic to their spam/scam site and improves their search engine rank.

The purpose is to inform people, not drive traffic to these illegitimate spam/scam sites, which posting direct links do.

All emails and URL's should be unparsed to prevent these douchebags from gaining any more ground in the ranks of search engines. ;)

You make some great points, if it were the case that I was linking to any of their sites. Instead I am putting their email addresses, which would do little to bolster search results, but do wonders for getting the emails spammed by people parsing the boards.
