News from Auby (http://www.auby.no/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page)

Current work in progress have made it possible to run ELF files from an SD card inserted in the GC card slot, and this is the result:

It's just my old Pong demo written for GameCube a long time ago. Controls doesn't work yet, and there are more to fix before a release, but at least things are moving forward.

pure awesomeness. hopefully they'll be able to launch stuff from the normal SD slot as well as the Gecko USB and SD slots, so i can get straight to playing :D

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be able to. I hope more stuff develops soon as I'm anxious to start playing homebrew on my Wii :D

I just hope they can make an ELF Loader that can load from the Wii's SD Slot because I'd rather not go and spend $20 on an adapter that the Wii already has built in...

Harshboy: I came to essentially say the same thing.

I hope that future projects work to enable the SD card slot so that additional hardware (gecko for example) is not needed. Sure I already own one myself but my little brother doesn't so I'd rather spend the money on a larger SD card.

Almost makes me wish I didn't sell my Wii. Oh well, I still love my PSP to death.

if it's running code in "Wii" mode then why is it using the GC slot to load the ELF? Sounds fishy to me... Still pretty cool but I'm not buying an adapter for that.

They said in an interview recently the reason, that in wii mode some of the gc hardware like the memory card slots are still accessible by the wii, unlike vice-versa.

All the GC homebrew was used through the GC memory card with the gecko adaptor. This homebrew is basically a non-modified pong program that was already working in GC mode.

next we need a bootloader for all the GC homebrew that's already out that can load everything through the wii sd card so people can start trying this stuff out.
