we need to getthis in the usa.. i installed and it works.. gets the signal pretty fast.. but no data for usa.. thisi s a very powerful app used to auto calulate routes.. it has every poi bult in from resturants to gas stations alll around the area... it will auto calualte routes while u are driving..... so maybe you guys can hack a usa map into it..?

Nieko could I ask whether this is gonna work with holux receivers or not. If it doesn't is someone gonna make it work ?

Sinistar
February 18th, 2008, 06:51
Yeah you think they would make USA down loadable maps for it.. what if one if these European people who buy this decides to travel abroad and bring their PSP??

Nieko
February 18th, 2008, 09:38
I don't think Go!Explore will support any GPS devices other than the PSP-290. A hack would then have to fool the PSP into thinking a Holux device, e.g., is actually the PSP-290 through USB. No idea if this can be done.

I also don't think there'll be US maps any time soon. The US has always had everything before Europe (all PlayStation consoles e.g., and lots of games too), now for once it's the other way around, and tough luck for you :).

It's not officially released, but someone leaked an early version. That's why I pointed to the forum rules.

like street names and house numbers

yea the usa verison i bet isnt gona come oput till ike 4th quater 2008 or srping 2009.. witch sucks but i guess we might need the 16gb chip for all the usa maps.. cuz usa is furaking huge and has alot of data... yea this program prolly needs a litte tweaking but it goes to show thathe technology is there for auto calculating routes. no more getroute things that recuire wifi u jsut type it in on the go and it takes u were ever u need to go.. its more than jsut a gps mpa viewr its a fully fuctional navigation system. with 1000's of pois bult and ordered correctly in

Nieko and i tested this baby for a long time.

Off course i won't tell you where to get it, because of the forum rules.

If you want it, maybe friend google has it.

Ontopic:

It can in fact work with the holux, yes.

If you supply the bautrate, etc etc it can work.

You should make a gps setup then.

Maybe Deniska can do this, although i think not, because he likes his own program better dan $ony stuff :)

The Go!Explore is just an pocketpc port to psp of igo 2006 (miomap 3.2) with some updated maps.

The maps are in .FBL format, BUT cannot be added to the "game". They won't be recognized, and any modification to the maps present in the leak (UK & Ireland) chrashes the psp.

Config files can be edited easily, if you want new themes and new poi's in the "game".

Since i don't have a Holux receiver AND since the program chrashes on any modifications to the file is doesn't seem to be that any mod is coming soon, atleast by me.

Unles you go play with the software yourself offcourse.

I'm trying it right now actually, trying to get satellites. One thing i've got to fix is to be able to play MP3 at the same time as i use this program, is it possible?

I live in sweden so i dont got any use for this right now, just testing, when is the real release coming, to Sweden for example. I only can find "early spring", isnt there a date?

Can be done easily by having music prx 0.50.

Search for it on pspupdates.qj.net.

one think! Maybe i am wrong but Deniska was the firts person who made GPS 4 PSP software. This soft is so good than i can't belive than only one person made it ( i mean mapthis of course!) I think mapthis is a very good alternative 4 go!explore - at least for coupple next years! I made mountain maps of my region /google terrain/. But it would be wounderfoul if hollux would work somehow with go!explore as well. I am from poland and for me spenting another 40 POUNDS for GPS from sony is a little bit to much :/

hmm maybe someone can getteh maps and street data from igo 2006 miomap 3.2 and import it into this program.. i am still gona use mapthis for sat imagery and camping ..etc.. but that woudl be sweet to intigrate usa maps and streets and places in goexplorer.. someone can do it i hope.

JoQ
February 20th, 2008, 13:46
mscarceller, the version thats out is as stated before a leaked one, early version with ONLY England/Ireland, when it is publically released you will get your maps!

Question is when the releasedate is!

Codaz
February 21st, 2008, 01:17
Ok i did some groundbreaking work on this baby today.

The only protection Sony build in to prevent you to load additional maps is

L_0.lic

A licencse file. In that encrypted license file are the maps that can be loaded.

JoQ
February 21st, 2008, 07:05
That's nice, does that mean that we can put out own maps for the rest of Europe (not england, ireland) without waiting for the release?

Is it possible to get hold of the maps?

Just for everyone's interest and not sure if anyone has done this but if you get a lock on the satellites and then go to explore for me in Australia it actually pinpoints where i live in australia only that the whole of australia is black with no details of streets or anything just black so maybe if there's some way to add the maps to the overlay or something to give us the streets?

Of course this is a speculations but there is potential to hack this software to include our maps

Hi mscarceller unfortunately i didn't read it anywhere it was a theory that i developed but it didn''t go well because i manage to download the licence file from mio map but the licence file itself extension is a .db file not a .lic so i don't think there is a way but to hack the .lic to make other maps work. Otherwise we just have to wait til the ps store releases out downloadable maps :P

well this lic. file are we sure that the maps and street data (E.g. places, names of buildings, names of streets). cuz the acual map file is only a 1 pic as a background.. the names of streets and there locations are programed into it, not into the map.. so in other words the map has no steet names on it.. maybe its somthign called vector map or somthing.... i hope somone pulls off a custom map/street/data file for stats of the usa.. maybe that geodata.dat file might come in use.. btw this program runs at 222mhz and the maps freaking load mad fast i lvoe it.. i wont get lost if i go to london i guess..

Once again, see rule 1 of the forum rules (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/announcement.php?f=170&a=4) and also Sony forum rules (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/announcement.php?f=199&a=7), which I think apply here. Discussing features of an upcoming product is fine, but no warez, hacking, etc. of Go!Explore.

Further such posts will be deleted or the topic will be closed.

IMHO i think the thread title should be changed - i am totally against piracy as is most of the DCEmu community. It has not been released it has been leaked. Obviously the software should be discussed - as it could lead to changes in deniska's work.

On a different note i now own 2 PSP-290s, i was wondering if I could build a DIY cable to hook up both units to Mapthis, to increase coverage and signal strength. If not ill probably sell one unit.

Two questions:
1)
Is it rue that with the new PSP 3000 series slim model coming out in November theres no need for any of the custom m33 firmware downgrades??

2) Is GO!EXPLORE as powerful of a system as NAVnGO 3d software created last year??

ha ha

I don't think Go!Explore will support any GPS devices other than the PSP-290. A hack would then have to fool the PSP into thinking a Holux device, e.g., is actually the PSP-290 through USB. No idea if this can be done.

I also don't think there'll be US maps any time soon. The US has always had everything before Europe (all PlayStation consoles e.g., and lots of games too), now for once it's the other way around, and tough luck for you :).
Hi there... I was digging on this subject as I've bought a M1000 and I want to connect it to my PSP (1004) and use Go!Explore....

I've found this: http://www.buygpsnow.com/usb-data-cable-for-holux-gpslim236-486.aspx

If you read the Step 4, it says "optional: if prompted for baud rate, select 4800)."

Doesn't the PSP-290 use the 4800 baud? I bet this should be something to ponder on as to making it work with Go!Explore!

Anyway, Is it possible to change the EU version of Go!Explore to delete all the other maps besides the ones that will serve my needs? lol
I just want to keep Portugal maps on with Portuguese and English voices and get rid of the rest because I don't need them and save space on my memory card...

I've tried but it keeps showing an error message...
I got 4.00m33-2 with 1.5kernel. and on recovery mode I've choosen the m33 - no UMD driver

Thank you all! ;) have fun!
