Kotakuite razmig snapped this rather interesting photo at his local GameStop. In a sign promoting the Nerf DS case, he noticed something a little strange. Right there in the case, nestled among the other games is an R4 cartridge. For those not in the know, the R4 is a popular product that will allow its users to download and play DS games illegally through the use of a Micro SD card. Mind you, the cartridge itself is technically not illegal, but given GameStop's hard stance on this type of thing and Nintendo's recent crackdown on piracy, I'm rather surprised this ad made it through. Having been a graphic designer, I know these things get looked at by a number of people before it goes to print and I would think someone would have caught it. Guess not.

Yes, but it was created to play 3rd party homebrew applications and that is how it is advertised. Theres nothing dodgey about the device, just what some people use it for. So theres absolutely nothing wrong with it being in that ad.

Ah so what.

There are R4 adverts all over IGN sometimes, and they're for sale on reputable websites like amazon. They're hardly illegal. It's Nintendo being ignorant as usual and blaming the wrong people thats causing R4 trouble.

<3 my R4 and jEnesis.

This makes me wonder if anyone even looked at this ad when it was in development....

The only major drawback is the horrendously slow loading times. And if you want to be a bad child and play wares than it's also not the cart for you. I love mine, but I overran the firmware in favor of DSOrganize. And I don't play big games like Quake and the like.

I'm pretty new to DS homebrew, but my experience with Games n' Music has been great. Any DLDI roms pretty much just work. The included games suck, but that's why I'm here instead! This site is the best I've seen for homebrew.

Its funny a few days after this topic was started, I was eyeing my local gamestop, and low and behold, the advertisement was gone. XD
I said something to the clerk and he had no idea what I was talking about. I think the word got around like wildfire hahahahahah :D

That is absolutely hilarious. What I don't get is how they sell the Datel Card in the store and it can do homebrew. How are they able to be sold in stores. Because it makes it a Music & Video Player?
