I presume the one at the top is the one to get? Too many versions...

Tried Galaxians (or Galaga, can't remember) - worked fine, if not a wee bit slow.

I just tried the "Universal" version, and after converting it over to 1.5, it didn't work. It seems to hang on the white PSP screen for about 30 seconds, until it causes the PSP to reboot. I don't suppose anybody has had any luck at getting it to run anything on a 1.5 system?

If Universal is the top one, it's running on my 1.5 without problems. Don't hide corrupted files, though - the folder needs to be PSPmame.

It worked for the 6 games I tried (Dk series)
The sound needs to be turned off (bad)
Does any one know how we can change the PSP clock speed.
Theres no setup menu other than the games setup menu.
Be nice to be able to config it

I got 2 folders PSPmame% and PSPmame, just like everything else, but it doesn't go past the white PSP intro screen for some reason, in the PSPmame folder i have the eboot, background image & a folder of my mame roms.

BTW how do you return to the rom list in this version? I am SO glad that changed it from X button, that was so annoying!

Hit L on the menu page. The clock speed, sound toggle, screen size, and color config is in there.

Boy, this thing is a hassle. Hopefully someday, someone can program one that can tell what roms you have there.

As for modification point from front version,

Main modification point:

Modifying memory control
Vertical picture correcting the fact that mode is vague
Sound quality and performance improvement of sound?
Correcting the fact that effective speed is strange
Analog input correcting the mounting mistake of system
Adding description below to the search path of roms and samples
Ms0: /psp/game/mamepsp/roms
Ms0: /psp/game/mamepsp/samples
The current -> it searches in order of the above-mentioned pass.

With there is also one sentence which is said. The case where you play main point note.

In the future, as for the corresponding software and starting verification etc. it is expected that it keeps handling in the below-mentioned page.

PSP Verification Page
Http: //pspmame.s151.xrea.com/

The case where you play the software which is not the starting verification list, is not reported with either the bulletin board,

We would like you to cooperate to starting verification by all means.

The renewal point is quantity, because ill-smelling it is, as for the one where you cannot release MAME

To get back to the rom list: L+R+Start - but don't bother because any game you load after will freeze...

Games I tested:

Golden Axe: doesn't work / freezes at video_
Pac-Man: works
Galaga: works but slows down quickly with many enemies onscreen
1942: works
1943: doesn't work / overflow error message
Ghosts n Goblins: works (seems slow)

...Rome wasn't built in a day I guess...

OMG!!

Just been messing around with the namco mame....Once your at the rom selector press the L button and you go to the config menu. Put your clock speed to 333 and then goto screen mode and select rotate and stretch. Then select Galaxian. Game loads up vertically and full speed! Then press l button and bring up the in game config and select the analogu stick up for fire, you now have perfect galaxian on your psp :D!!!

ataribob they've released about 14 different mame emulators. Each one for specific titles but they all work the same. Try pressing l when you are in game selection and you will see.

not for the most recent version, but a verification page and table for many of the PSP Mame 0.3 (0.96) and PSP Mame 0.71 roms and variants. Perhaps I or someone will use this to do a complete 0.4/0.97 romlist?

I installed the variants and this is what they are. All of them are MAME version 0.4 for PSP, supporting the MAME 0.97 Romsets. Naturally, not all of the hardware sets support all roms, and not all roms work properly, but this appears to be a step in the right direction.
Hardware/Manufacture sets are:

capcom
deco
favo
irem
konami2
namco
namco2
sega
sega2
snk
technos
taito
taito2
universal
upl

so start testing!!!
and yes, SNK has some interesting choices. Obviously the older games like Vanguard work much more properly than newer heavy duty games like Samurai Showdown.

I have a PSP with the 1.5 firmware. Does this need to be converted to work with mine? I haven't been able to get it to startup at all. I get an error then it returns to the OS.

Yeah you need to KXploit to install it. Make sure you set PSPMame as the name in KXploit then just drop your rom set in the pspmame directory on you ms and your good to go.

It funny.
I got the full set using the namco verrsio r4Mame97 roms
And Mappy will not load say's it cannot find the roms.
The Same Mappy roms work in Mame 97 on the PC
and the same ones work on the Namco release only that came out 4 weeks ago.

I checked the zips and all the Eproms are listed right.
Have them in the Folder called Roms

Hmmm Mappy is a Namco game. I don't have my USB cable here at work so I can't check it out. I did look at the Capcom source files and it doesn't appear to have Mappy compiled in. What is the rom set name that it gives? Also does it give any specific file not found errors?

On that note I put together a ClrmamePro Dat for the Technos set ( http://www.shindakun.net/pspmame_.04_.97_technos.zip ) I should have one done for the Capcom set later today...

Is Mappy the only set that doesn't work? The roms shoud be in 'psp/game/mamepsp/roms' as zips. When I get home I'll put together a dat for the Namco and you can use Clrmame to verify it.

I finally got them working.
The Pspmame folder does not work too good.
I have all 14 versions of Mame.r.4 v97
and version 1.50 firmware.
When you install then you can't use the same folder name or it will write over the eboot.
eack folder i named PSPMAME1 PSPmame 2 ect....

Heh good tip I was wondering how the program would react if you had multiple installs on a memory card. The code seems to look in the local dir first and then the pspmame dir:

{ "rompath", "rp", rc_string, &pathlist[FILETYPE_ROM].rawpath, "roms;ms0:/psp/game/mamepsp/roms", 0, 0, NULL, "path to romsets" },
So I guess as long as you have the roms folder your good... Now if only I can get the code to compile with the current tool chain... Oh well, back to testing romsets. :)

Could anyone point me in the right direction to find the ROMs in the compatibility list?

I'm looking for 1942 (set 3).

Thanks!

BTW great work everybody working on getting MAME up and running!
