http://digg.com/nintendo/Region_Free_Gaming_on_Wii_Finally

This is the one you’ve all been waiting for! Wii FreeLoader lets you play ANY region of Wii or GameCube game on your Nintendo Wii! At last, you can import games from other territories and play them on your Wii…

Wii FreeLoader is really easy to use. Simply insert your FreeLoader disc and load it in the usual way. When the drive stops, eject the Wii FreeLoader disc and insert the game, which then loads and plays just like it would on its own region of Wii. It’s as simple as that!

Wii FreeLoader is 100% unofficial, but as it requires no modifications to your console, it does not invalidate the warranty. As well as letting you play Wii games from all regions, Wii FreeLoader also works with imported GameCube games when played on your Wii. …

Features

Play ANY region of Wii or GameCube game on ANY Wii.
Easy to use.
No console modification required.
Doesn’t invalidate warranty.
Play games never released in your region.
Play local games on your imported console.
100% unofficial.

Cant wait for this one :)

Wow, now that's good, maybe I should think of buying thins and then import games that are available elsewhere rather than wait for ages on end for a UK release.

If Datel have got a disc to boot without modifications... does that mean anyone can if you have the know-how? I'd love to know what's going on under the hood of this disc

Nice, but how do I know that this is future-proof? What if nintendo decides to force a firmware update that prevents this from working, like they did with the gamecube action replay?

they have made other discs to run on wii so they most likly have the code to make the disc work anyway. this isnt a pirate disc its a pressed disc and will have all the info any other wii disc would have or need to run. plus due to how the discs are made its easy to spot a burnt disc froma pressed one.

Don't be hasty in your conclusions. That program, according to the comments on the page, still requires a modchip to run the altered disks. In other words, it allows for selective replacement of disk data, but it does not make those disks bootable on an unmodified system.

Datel would have needed something other than this to make their new Freeloader work right. My guess is that they are simply pressing their own data on top of some official disks, like other companies have done in the past.

...So I broke that damn disc for nothing?

Ugh, **** you Nintendo. Allow people to enjoy their ****ing game-warping software.

I just ordered mine from https://uk.codejunkies.com.

Although it is £9.99 the UPS postage cost me £5.21 so my total was £15.20.

Well I've been waiting for something like this (plus I didn't really want to chip my machine)... I've also just ordered the US version of 'No More Heroes' and 'Super Smash Brawl'. I really hope that playing Brawl with this freeloader it will let me play online on my UK machine?

Sounds good, anybody know if its possible to play smash brawl online using a NTSC disk in the UK?

Also whats the chancing in bricking the Wii? i heard that the US discs contain updates that will mess the wii up.

cheers

phsychokill
February 29th, 2008, 20:19
if you play smash bros brawl in the uk it will just connect as it would in the us as the disc has all the connection information.

as for bricking your wii with american updates they use the same numbers and do the same things so just make sure you update through the net connection instead of the discs.

This is great.
Does anyone think there is a chance that nintendo could detect you are playing an imported game and ban you from the internet? especially when playing imported games online

phsychokill
February 29th, 2008, 22:33
once the game is online it will be running as if it is that version of game because it is. also nintendo dont run their online like microsoft so they only do it game by game. pluss if they did start trying to ban people for playing imports alot of cases would come up with people fighting nintendo as they had a friend from that country visiting. well atleast thats what they will say.

You cant ban someone for playing imports. If there was a way to detect a modified console with a modchip like the Xbox, you can. But with a Freeloader, you cant. Nintendo never did that with the DS or the GameCube

II read on IGN that when they had the japanese version of smash brawl they couldn't connect to a random match they said:

"we attempted to connect to several random battles against players in Japan and were never successful. It's possible that Nintendo is currently blocking US-based servers from participating in online games, although we have no proof – other than being repeatedly locked out of online matches – to support this theory. Interestingly enough, we could participate in a number of spectator matches, which enable you to watch other players duke it out. You can even bet on the matches before they begin using coins you've collected throughout your experiences"

But they did play a game using friend codes, so I spose its not all that bad!
