Kotaku has unearthed a new trademark filed by SEGA, indicating that the company is working on a new game in the Sonic franchise.

Sonic Unleashed is described in the trademark filing as "video game software" so there's high confidence that it's the title for a new game, but that's all the info we've got right now.

SEGA is currently unable to offer any form of comment.

What do you think the new game could be? The next game for Xbox 360 and PS3, another Wii game in the style of Secret Rings, maybe a new handheld game. Let us know in the comments section below.

Hopefully more like Sonic 1/2/3/K and less like Sonic 2006.

Oh... Great... Another Sonic game that's just going to be classed as "Fail" :P

I wonder if we would actually see another "perfect" Sonic game. :P

for me i think sonic has gone as far as it can go its not as flexible as mario

hopefully its like the UT mod Dark Ashura is making
that would be hella awesome with character creation
probally wont happen but hey, a guy can hope:)

if its anything like the "next-gen" Sonic game sega released on PS3 and 360, count me OUT.
