Getting Started

I'm usually on the PSP forums, and I have no problem with emulation there. However, I have no idea where to start in terms of homebrew and emulation on the DS. What software do I need? What hardware do I need (besides the DS, of course).

If someone could enlighten me on this, I'd appreciate it.
