Yellow_Rain has just released a patch to update Dark_AleX's 3.92 M33-2 firmware with the features from 3.93. This is not an official release by Dark_AleX, but a patch made by a fan. Here's what Yellow_Rain has to say.

As Dark_AleX probably isn't going to make 3.93 M33, here is a small patch to use the latest features

Contains reversed and updated popcorn.prx.
Plus an hex-edited vshctrl.prx to say 3.93 M33 (GetVersion opcode also patched)
Tested and working on Slim and Classic PSP's

Again, ALL credits goes to Dark_AleX, I only updated popcorn.prx, HEX-edited vshctrl, and wrote this flasher.

*Uses libpsar.prx and pspdecrypt.prx from RSPsardumper.
*It only flashes the changed modules, so it only works from 3.90 M33-2.

Copy the contents of ms_root to your memory stick, then put the 393.PBP in the root of your memory stick.

If you used this before, please run it again, a very nasty bug has been fixed.

I've just tested it on my PSP Slim and can verify it works.

You will need the official 3.93 firmware update eboot which you can grab here (http://du01.psp.update.playstation.org/update/psp/image/us/2008_0318_22e4fbbb885825b613cbf0d3bbc52f8f/EBOOT.PBP). Rename it to 393.PBP and extract it to the root of your MS.

All Updates "expand" on the playstation network compatability. However some even break, and add glitches(Eg. FFVII flashing bar after 3.03, etc.)
So in short the update is for the most part useless outside of Japan.
Not bashing the release, just saying it's not very much if you don't live in japan and/or have a slim.
Props to the developer tho, it would seem patching popcorn.prx is not an easy feat to acomplish.

I don't recommend this to anyone, just wait for Dark_Alex
this edits your flash, and who knows of the possible bugs, shame on you for releasing this. You can only uninstall this by re-flashing the files that this installer flashes, which the coder doesn't even tell you. If you want to try this, make sure you have Pandora Battery Handy.

Bottom line :

Don't Install This, It May Damage Your PSP

If you dunk steak in ketchup, it's pretty good.

BTW, this doesn't look trustworthy at all.

First of all, do you have a homebrew enabled(modded, hacked) PSP near you? For example: A friend, a family member, or someone you know that has a homebrew enabled PSP.

Then, with the help of that PSP, you can create something called the Pandora's Battery. It turns your battery into a battery you can use to mod your PSP.

If you don't understand, or just need more help, you can send me a private message. :)

Good luck.

3.90m33-2 is the latest as far as I am aware.

tru89x: If your PSP is running the official Sony firmware 3.90 then you will need a pandora's battery/magic memory stick to put a custom firmware on it.

Put 3.90 M33-2 (from http://www.dark-alex.org/) on it, I've never heard of a 3.92 M33

No offence, but isn't this so with every CFW-update? I mean, some updates start with a few bugs. Then usually a bugfix comes in the form of another update. BTW: I think I know why the coder propably didn't tell how uninstall this update. He already assumes we know this. We all know that unless you have a phat on a firmware prior to 3.80 m33 , the only way to install another firmware, is to use Pandora. So yes, there is always a risk. To take it, or not to take it, that is the question...

Will this work on if my friend is running an older psp with the 3.90 m33 firmware.

Yes, a fat (older) PSP running a custom firmware can create the pandora battery/magic memory stick to use on a slim (new) PSP.

wow, this is a late reply but I fixed it with a Pandora Battery.
This crapp00p firmware won't let you recover back to 1.50 like the regular DAX ones. Plus it's buggy and useless now.
