Attila has released a new build of the port of the Amiga emulator UAE with support for the Keyboard, heres what he says:

PSPUAE 0.31 w/KBD 1.0

Changes to PSPUAE 0.31 :
- Moved statistics screen to Menu/Options/Show statistics
- Added finer mouse movements while the () - Circle is pressed.
- Optimized some drawing related functions.
- Added FULL keyboard :
:: To activate/deactivate keyboard; press [] - Square
If Keyboard is active :
- Triangle : changes position of keyboard to top/bottom of the screen.
- Up/Right/Down/Left arrows : walk the keyboard.
- X - Cross : Press invokes a key-press event,
Release invokes a key-release event.
- () - Circle : presses the "Return" key...

The are 8 sticky keys (Ctrl,Alts,Amigas,Shifts,CapsLock); pressed once
will make them sticky (they will not be released - indicated by red
highlight), pressing again will release them.

Also, please note, this uses a US keyboard layout. If your kickrom is
non-US, there are going to be some minor "discrepencies".
( Just imagine that you connected a US keyboard to your Amiga... )

Thank you Christophe for 0.31.

Since I got my PSP yesterday I haven't tried the older versions. This version is faster than I ever thought it would be. Turrican is playable with sound and frameskip 3. I get around 50 FPS but when there's lots of sprites on the screen it's a little bit lower. This is in my opinion the best thing that have happend to PSP. Thank you!!!

As far as I know this is no faster than 0.31. It just adds keyboard support. Most games run at a frameskip of 8, which makes them unplayable only games that do not require much screen activity are playable. I havn't tried Turrican but if it runs at a frameskip of 3 then it is running better than all the games I tried.

It was rather frameskip 4 than 3. It all depends on the number of sprites used in the game. It seems to be better to leave the auto frameskip off. If you turn off the sound too you can make it run a little bit faster. With no sound Turrican 2 is indeed playable. But it would be nice if you could remap the joypad buttons. It's very hard to play since the game is designed for joysticks so you have to use the dpad to jump. BTW parabolee which games have you tried so far?

yep. and its not even included in the clicks for dev thingy.
this emu is so damn fun.
one of my favourite games Gold of the Aztecs run at nearly 100% speed. (with no sound emu) and so do many other games.
though i wish it was possible to assign keys to different buttons. it would be great for gaming.

but its still in early stages.

i might be wrong but i think they are saved within the disk. i havnt tried saving any games (the ones i have on my psp dont have saving)

but i've messed around a bit with the Amiga Workbench. and i used the notepad and saved a file. its stored on the "disk" (amiga workbench wb13_1.adf)

So far I tried -

SWOS
It Came from the Desert (this is playable and one of my all time fave games)
Pirates (plays pretty good, aceptable at least)
Monkey Island (pointless now because SCUMMVM is awesome but it ran ok, seems point and click games run ok, but too much loading.)
Kynoston Kid (A game I made that is available free online on a PD disk)

After that i decided to hang on till the speed is improved as it didn't seem quite good enough to play. But it is very promising, I hope Chris does a decent update soon. Amiga 500 has such a wealth of awesome ganmes.

Hi everyone

I am having trouble using the new pspuae. I keep getting the corrupted data warning and it won't start. I have not upgraded my psp since I bought it in January.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to change any directories or file names?

Thanks

Chris

Ok. I've tried Turrican 1 & 2 and Workbench 1.3. They work pretty good without sound. I've also tried Pinball Dreams and Phenomenas demo Enigma but they don't start, I get Guru meditation errors.

EDIT: I think the reason that Pinballdreams and Enigma didn't work was that the files didn't copy correctly from the computer to the memorystick

i would be interested to know the answer to this too. the emulator comes with no file explaining how to use it. do you guys use that file selector program or does the latest emulator mean you don't need to? should i rename the files to df0.adf?

i'm not understanding how to load the disks and would appreciate 2 minutes of someone's time to explain briefly what to do.

thanks

wel searching loads gave me the answers.

seems like there should be at least some .txt to accompany this emulator

i'll post a howto when i figure it out.

disks go in a disks directory!

disks go in a disks directory!

I tryed with Disk, FloppyDisks, Floppy
none worked. got that from the original "WinUAE"

so though it was something similar, but the source
is included in download, so with a little patience
might be worth searching for strings. ;)

Funny i forgot a >>> s <<< in disk(s) for it to work.. :p :p

I'd appreciate that guide tentonipete - I can't get this going at all. I just get a few little green boxes in the bottom right and then my PSP reboots. Grr...
