Mojang's indie hit is to be released for all Android devices in due course, but its exclusivity deal with Sony Ericsson means that it has been released first for the Xperia Play. And, in typical fashion, this first release is an alpha, with Mojang promising to improve the current version's rather limited feature set over time. Focusing on the "creative aspects of Minecraft", version 0.1 features randomised worlds, 36 types of block, and local multiplayer. "We have tried to put in the features that make sense for playing on a mobile device while still keeping the core of the Minecraft experience," the developer told Kotaku. "You will be able to select blocks on the touchscreen or just scroll through them with the circle and square buttons on the Xperia Play."
