At an EA showcase event in Las Vegas, the publisher has announced that Syndicate will be released in North America on February 21, and in Europe on February 24.
The announcement of the reboot, which is being developed by Swedish studio Starbreeze, was met with some disdain when it emerged that the classic strategy title was being turned into an FPS. Speaking to OXM earlier this month, game director Neil McEwan said that his team were mindful of straying too far from the original.
"We're big fans of the original Syndicate, and we're definitely paying as much homage to it as we can - bringing across the essence of the world, the core essence of what it is to be an Agent," he said.
"That sounds wanky but it's true - we're taking the Persuadatron and evolving it in different ways, the weapons and brutality. On both facets of the game, the co-op and the singleplayer, it's very key to stay true to it." http://www.next-gen.biz/news/syndica...-next-february
