Ubisoft has announced Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Patriots, due in 2013, is in development at Ubisoft Montreal with support from the publisher's Toronto and Red Storm studios, and is the first instalment in the 25 million-selling franchise since 2006'sRainbow Six: Vegas.
In a press release, Ubisoft creative director David Sears said: "Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6. In Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction."
Specifically, that narrative shift means multiple protagonists. The principal threat in the game is a revolutionary group called the True Patriots, rising up against "greedy politicians and corporate special interests." New cooperative and multiplayer modes are also promised.
