The publisher's latest is a two-on-two fighting game which lets two players pair up for online fights. Shortly after the game's release last week, Xbox 360 owners complained that two players on the same console were unable to play online, a feature which is available to PS3 owners and is listed in both versions' instruction manuals.
Last week, Capcom USA's Christian Svensson said the publisher did not intend to add local co-op to the Xbox 360 version with a patch, passing along a note from the development team which claimed it was not actually possible to do on Xbox 360 because "it is not possible to mix and match online and offline players."
Fans quickly pointed out that wasn't the case - the Halo and Call Of Duty series, and even another fighting game, last year's Mortal Kombat - allow Xbox Live users to take a guest partner online. Writing on the Capcom Unity blog, assistant producer Tomoaki Ayano confesses that the feature didn't make it in because the team ran out of time.
"Unfortunately, due to time and resource issues, we weren't able to get that feature into the Xbox 360 version and we apologise to those players who were looking forward to it," he writes. "Throughout the development process, there are times when new features are added (and we added a lot of them!) and there are also times where we have to make tough decisions regarding things to cut.
"This was one of those times. This mode is supported in the PlayStation 3 version, however, since we tackled that earlier and found the architecture of their system to be more conducive to implementing it.
"This is the most content we've ever packed into a Street Fightergame, so we hope that there are plenty of other modes and features to keep everyone busy for a long time."
Ayano does, however, promise "some information regarding new updates for Street Fighter X Tekken coming up soon." Players are keenly awaiting a fix for a bug affecting sound effects in online matches - Capcom last week said that fixing it could mean input lag, and is yet to confirm it will be patched - and are already bristling after hackers found 12 near-complete characters stored on the disc, waiting to be unlocked in a future update.
