UK firm Taxi For Two has come up with a very simple app that aims to get people sharing cabs so they can save money and do their bit for the environment.
It's currently available as a web app in the UK via its own web site or through the shortcode 84433.
The interface is very straightforward. You just type in your start point and destination, click 'find me' and wait for others to hook up.
Naturally, the success of the app depends on a certain critical mass of users being accumulated.
Unlike the many other taxi apps available from app stores, Taxi For Two doesn't book taxis, and it's free for the moment. So we'll have to wait and see how the firm will make money
