Activision recently partnered Flurry to support third party mobile games studios, and now rival video games publisher Sega has launched its own independent support initiative.
The Sega Alliance will provide independent developers with marketing, production, and consultation support.
Owlchemy Labs has been the platform's test subject, working with Sega Alliance to launch Jack Lumber – an iOS game about a supernatural lumberjack who goes medieval on the forest after a vicious tree murders his nan.
Chris Olson, VP of digital business at Sega, said: "With Sega Alliance, we're looking forward to sharing that success with talented developers like Owlchemy Labs by introducing new and unique games, such as Jack Lumber, to the market. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some trees to destroy."
Alex Schwartz, chief scientist at Owlchemy Labs, said: "We'll be able to introduce Jack Lumber to a much wider audience than we'd originally hoped thanks to the resources provided by Sega Alliance.
