Those who subscribe to Call of Duty: Elite, the social networking, stat-tracking service for the gargantuan first-person shooter series, get exclusive access to a Call of Duty web TV series.
"We have engaged some top Hollywood talent to create linear video content that will be exclusive to Elite members," Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg told the Guardian. "That content is inspired by Call of Duty."
He continued: "If you're a sports fan, there are lots of ways for you to connect with that hobby, that passion, not just on the day that the games are played, but throughout the week, and we wanted to give [Call of Duty players] real entertainment value."
Details on the web TV series are scarce. As the Guardian points out, it is unknown whether it's animated or live-action. "We're not going to give much more detail until we have something to show," Hirshberg offered. "That'll be later in the year."
Activision announced the Beachhead-developed Call of Duty: Elite yesterday. Parts are free. Parts require a monthly fee. Eurogamer explained Call of Duty: Elite's innards.
An open beta launches in the summer, before final rollout alongside Modern Warfare 3 in November.
