If you're confused as to which one in the series this is, it's the fourth game on DS (sadly not the 3DS one), and was commonly translated from Japanese as Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute, before a US trademark titled it Professor Layton and the Last Specter (you may also have heard of it as Professor Layton and the Flute of Malevolent Destiny). Level-5 needs to sort out this naming confusion (by announcing and releasing them globally, dammit).

The game is the first in a set of three prequels to Curious Village, this one telling the story of how Layton got acquainted with his little sidekick Luke.
