News via http://www.psp-hacks.com/2011/04/25/...ally-released/

Ready for the masses — DaedalusX64 BETA 3 Update! It’s still beta 3, but it’s an update addressing several issues found in the initial release: improved stability, several speed enhancements and the added support for cheat codes. One release at a time… The N64 emulation movement is growing, getting better.

The above video is from DaedalusX64 BETA 3; the first release.
DaedalusX64 BETA 3 CHANGELOG

Salvy:
• Fixed multiple suns glitch in Zelda
• Fixed wrapping issues in Zelda
• Added cheat support (routines and format based from 1964)
• Front-end for cheats
• Rewrote how we generate cic codes (code is 90% smaller now)
• Only update viewport when it changes
• Unlocked extra memory for all psps, except phat of course (note : if using a loader, make sure is supported)
• Rewrote display list PC stack (this heavily based from Rice plugin)
• Fixed error I did in Patch_Hacks (was causing the oshle scanning fail in certain ROMS)
• Fixed trees in Dream Land (SSB) (no need to add fraction in integer part)
• Fixed bug that caused PSP screen to stretch when tv out cables were connected
• Fixed nasty texture to work along blendmode maker in Combiner Explorer (just press triangle to use it)
• Corrected (huge)mistake from 597 that caused slim cache to be ignored (small speed up in slim and newer models)
• Made osAiSetNextBuffer thread safe, also added several asserts to make sure we handle everything.
• Removed Conker shadow hack (no longer needed, generic blendmode takes care of the shadow)
• Ignore IMEM transfers for speed (we don’t use low-level RSP plugin for the PSP version anyways)
• Simplified Sprite2D
• Implemented correctly DLParser_TexRect_Last_Legion (fixes BSOD in sub menus)
• Use 32bit screenmode for tv out
• Force struct alignment for our ucodedefs (generates better code)
• Added several blendmodes (Salvy, Corn, Bdacanay)
Corn:
• Small optimization for graphics loading/adding triangles. Some minor optimizations to the VFPU TnL. Optimized loading vector planes for clipping
• Alpha channel gets passed along even when doing lighting on a tris.
• Fixed critical rendering bug (and Dlist counter bug) in Conker. Optimized triangle rendering in Conker.
• Speed up using early FRONT/BACK tris culling in software. Added display render stats on screen as an option (only available in Display list debug mode)
• Made CPU rendering compatible with VFPU rendering (insert-matrix and ENV MAP)
• Implemented Env mapping which is done (very fast) in the VFPU (Fixes SM64 stars and OOT stones, SSV ship)
• Some optimizations on Bcopy(), memcpy() and CRC()
• Improved hack for Wonder project J2 with a speed up (require setting texture check to 4 or so)
• Fix the chopped off graphics(bug) in the ROM selector menu
• Optimized Proj matrix sceGU load (Only reaload Project matrix to sceGU if its updated)
• Fixed blocks in New Tetris lining up backwards
• Replaced swizzle_fast with Raphael’s version

News via http://www.summeli.fi/?p=2314

For those of you who want a better experience on S^3, here’s a modified version of AntSnes that supports multitouch and has full set of on-screen buttons. Also runs much faster, close to 60 FPS w/out sound and usable with it. The audio might sound a bit glitchy at the moment, though, due to some optimizations.
This is completely un-official and Summeli can re-release this when he finds time through his proper channels and with the source, but at least here’s something to play with in the meantime.
Requirements: S^3 device with Qt 4.7.2 or 4.7.3 libraries installed

News via http://wololo.net/wagic/2011/04/26/v...of-of-concept/

Developer HacKmaN, who works closely with Total_Noob on TN Hen, just released a video showcasing TN Hen on a 6.38 OFW.
A few weeks ago, Total_Noob had announced in this interview that he was investigating Kernel exploits on the latest firmware. He then confirmed he was onto something, by showing a video running a kernel exploit POC on a PSP running OFW 6.38.

Today this video shows that porting TN Hen to the latest firmwares seemed like a piece of cake for this talented dev.
In the interview, as well as in his recent videos, Total_Noob (and HacKmaN) stated that this Hen would not be released because of the scene’s attitude towards developers and the whole debate about isos.
Comments about the video on youtube show a mix of angry people, people who promise that 6.38 users are not pirates, that they will “behave”, but we all know how it goes: as long as Hen does not support piracy, “nobody” cares about it, and most of the ones who care just come to insult the lack of iso support.
Total_Noob is now following the path of Davee and Team Typhoon, who had a working Hen on firmware 6.20 more than a year ago, but never released it because of the scene’s attitude.
As far as I’m concerned, I’ve been in the scene long enough to know this: the scene is made of 95% of morons who are in this only for piracy. I fight for the remaining 5%. ...

Ok, forget about the bad taste joke in the title, this game is plain casual fun, and I think everybody will love the intro. This is Chimecho’s entry to the PSP Genesis competition, a game in which you have to move a ball in moving platforms, and avoid to disappear on top of the screen. Damn, screw my explanations, just watch the youtube video

Knopper’s entry for the PSP Genesis Compo is a nice little app that will secure some of your files on the PSP with a password. This also hides the folders on Windows, which won’t help you if your friends are technical savvy, but might help if your little brother is a bit too curious with your stuff. Yay, now you can finally have porn very secure documents on your PSP that people won’t see.

A fan-created Golden Axe game called "Golden Axe Myth" is now available for download on PC. In development since 2007, Myth has been designed as prequel to the arcade/Genesis game, and features all-new graphics, music and levels, and even a downloadable artbook and soundtrack. And it all looks great! So why is it that we're feeling so sad on this otherwise happy occasion?

It's basically a total bummer to be reminded of Sega's takedown of Streets of Rage Remakejust two weeks ago. Presuming that Myth will fall to the same fate, we're already feeling sad about the (future) ending of this fan creation. But that's all the more reason for you to download Golden Axe Myth while you can.

And to future fan-game developers: Just make a couple of changes! Call it "Platinum Halberd" and give the dwarf blue hair or something. It doesn't have to end in tragedy!

2. Nintendo 3DS News

Consumers know they want a 3DS but are delaying their purchase until a wider range of games is available, believes Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata.
Speaking during an investor call transcribed onNintendo's official site, Iwata insisted that the new handheld was one of the most coveted machines the company had ever released, but many potential purchasers were biding their time before opening their wallets.
"It is clear from our market research that many people feel that they 'want' and 'want to buy' Nintendo 3DS, and the latest demand for this device is the largest in comparison with our previous new platforms at the time of their launches," he explained.
"But on the other hand, there is a big proposition that not that many people believe 'Now is the time to buy it!' The penetration will not gain speed without overcoming this challenge.
"After all, the way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate 'what kind of games can be played', as long as Nintendo 3DS is a gaming device.
"There might be consumers who are interested in Nintendo 3DS," he continued, "but they are unable to find software which they want to play, and they are in the 'wait-and-see mode'."
Iwata then went on to list off a formidable slate of titles due out in Japan before the end of 2011, including Dead or Alive: Dimensions, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Tales of the Abyss, Star Fox 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising (due "after summer"), Super Mario 3DS and Mario Kart 3DS.
"Nintendo will be working with our full strength in order to spread Nintendo 3DS as a mainstream handheld device, along with the third party developers and with our sales partners," he concluded.
During the same event, Iwata revealed that the handheld, which launched last month in Europe and the US, had got off to a "smooth start" selling 3.6 million units.
