Square Enix is remaking classic Japanese Super NES strategy game Tactics Ogre for the PSP.

According to Famitsu magazine (thanks 1UP), the PSP version is called Tactics Ogre: Wheel of Fate. It'll retain the look of the original 1995 game, but be in 3D, enabling players to move the camera around for a better view of the battle field.

While the gameplay will remain largely unchanged, the on-screen troop count is increased to 30 from 20, and there are new classes and new features for the skill system.

Some of the original team have got together to work on the game, including director Hiroshi Minagawa, designer Yasumi Matsuno, character designers Akihiro Yoshida and Tsubasa Masao, and Hitoshi Sakimoto and Iwata Masaji on music.

Matsuno is working on additions to the game's story and character elements, including new side stories.

No release date is included in the report. Nor is word of a Western release. The original SNES game was never released outside of Japan, although a PlayStation port was later released in North America.

Telltale Games is about to release the fourth episode of Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse on PlayStation Network.

This one is titled Beyond the Alley of the Dolls and has something to do with canine clones and zombie apocalypses. We'll also get to find out more about who has been pulling the Freelance Police's strings.

The episode is due to arrive on PSN later today. It's the last one before the season finale.

Kinect requires six feet of space between the player and TV in order to be enjoyed.

That's according to online retail behemoth Amazon, which has seemingly delivered the most concrete info yet on how close we can expect to wiggle in front our tellies.

The retailer warns: "You'll need any Xbox 360 console, a Kinect sensor, Kinect games and 6 feet between you and your television for play space."

The spacing info is mentioned on the game's pre-order page, but oddly not only the official Kinect checklist.

If true, this pretty much puts bedroom Kinect gaming to bed, especially considering the device allegedly doesn't work when lying down either.

EA has announced that Shank will be released on 24th August on PlayStation Network and 25th August on Xbox Live Arcade.

The game will cost 1200 Microsoft Points on XBLA or $14.99 on PSN.

Shank is made by developer Klei and caught Eurogamer's eye back at GDC.

The idea's fairly standard: you're macho murderer in a 2D platform world, and you're going to cause a hell of a lot of carnage. The exciting part seems to be the execution, which is crisp, vibrant and powerful.

Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption has become the US's best-selling game of 2010 so far, according to new NPD figures.

May's sales had it already put it ahead of the nearest competition, Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy 2, but combined with the number of units shifted in June, it has become the biggest-seller of the year's first six months.

New Super Mario Bros Wii tops the individual platform sales chart, but combined 360 and PS3 sales put Red Dead ahead.

However, apart from the number one spot, Nintendo had a clear dominance of the year to date. Seven of the individual platform sales top ten are Wii or DS titles.

In combined sales, 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has unloaded more copies this year than any 2010 release other than Red Dead and New Super Mario Bros - reflecting what has otherwise not been a successful six months for new releases.

The top five best-selling games (combined platform) in the US for January to June 2010 follow. Total sales figures have not yet been released.

Sony has recently published patents which will allow two-player 3D gaming on a single screen. The new technology could spell an end to split-screen gaming, but is unlikely to see the light of day for a few years at least. Sony's method would allow player one to see frames one and three whilst player two would see frames two and four. Current technology requires a display with a 120 Hz refresh rate so it seems likely that we'll have to wait for 240Hz screen technology to become commonplace before two-player 3D becomes a reality. We really don't know where to start with this one. Okay, the bare facts to begin with: The Daily Star has somehow managed to report that a video game based on killer Raul Moat is being planned.

It's even gone so far as to parade a picture of a mocked up GTA, entitled: Grand Theft Auto Rothbury - named after the rural Northumberland area in which Moat gunned down innocent members of the public earlier this month.

However, The Star attributes the doctored image to several 'games websites', which it said 'showed the cover of Grand Theft Auto Rothbury'. We read a lot of games websites. We have not seen these websites.


Read this sentence carefully: This image is the only evidence the Star has to back its claim that a Raul Moat video game is being planned.

The most shocking thing of all? Not content with taking/creating a fictional/tasteless image of 'GTA Rothbury', The Star then asks the (watch us fly into justifiable tabloid capitalisation here) 69-YEAR-OLD GRANDMOTHER of Moat's ex-girlfriend Samantha Stobbart - who was not only SHOT AND LEFT FOR DEAD by Moat herself, but whose BOYFRIEND MOAT KILLED - what she thinks of its conception.

"It is sick - it's blood money," Mrs Ann Hornsby tells the paper. "The game is beyond belief."

Understandable rage? You betcha. But "beyond belief". That's kind of the point, isn't it? It's made up. By The Daily Star. Responsible.

The idea that a game is planned at all is linked to the reported publication of a book on Moat and the shocking incidents at Rothbury. The Star does at least speak to a paperback publisher on that one.

It also notes that 'film companies are lining up bids for the rights' to Moat's story. Without noting any source.

Oh, and for those inquisitive enough, The Star's headline is:

'RAUL MOAT: VIDEO GAME, FILM AND BOOK PLANS CAUSE FURY'

The first of the three is unfounded.

The second is a joke.

Or at least would be. If it were funny.
