'Virtual themepark' to introduce consumer to the Wii U Gamepad

Nintendo has used its ongoing E3 press conference to confirm Wii U Nintendo Land.
Described as a 'virtual themepark', Nintendo Land has been designed to demonstrate the abilities of the Wii U's distinct Gamepad to the consumer.

The title effectively serves the same role as Wii launch title Wii Sports did in introducing a new controller concept to the consumer.
Nintendo Land is a single game with 12 different 'attractions' built around classic Nintendo IP, including Donkey Kong and Zelda.
Nintendo Land's creation was lead by Katsuya Eguchi, 'Wii U software producer'.

Developers encouraged to submit proposals as Gambitious funding model readies for summer launch

A new games-specific equity-based crowdfunding platform has made a call for developers to submit proposals.
Gambitious is pitched as the first professional crowd funding platform exclusively dedicated to the games industry, and has now joined forces with a group of developers and publisher Mastertronic.

The platform, hailing from Holland, offers a hybrid model where both consumer donations and equity investment can be directed towards a given project. At E3 2012 Gambitious has asked developers established and newly-formed to prepare proposals.
“We are absolutely ecstatic to be working with guys who have been championing and empowering independent game developers for so long, as we all see the crowdfunding opportunity as something that, if handled properly, could truly change the industry for indies of all sizes," said Paul Hanraets, Gambitious co-founder.
The platform will cover funding across both the United States and the European Union, and will let developers indicate how much capital is required to fund a project, and the amount of equity in the project offered in return.

    2. Xperia Play News

Taiwanese OEM joins Sony's PlayStation Certified licence programme.
The move has been rumoured for a few months now, and a short statement from HTC has made it official.
For Sony, this is a minor breakthrough as the firm has been keen to expand the range of Playstation compatible devices away from just its own handsets.
Sony (then Sony Ericsson) launched the The Xperia Play in spring 2011 as its first PlayStation phone. The device features PlayStation-branded buttons, a flip-screen and links to the PlayStation Suite platform, which allows gamers to download PSone and Android software.
"HTC is focused on delivering innovative mobile experiences for people everywhere and SCE's immersive world of gaming will bring compelling entertainment to HTC One customers across the globe," said Kouji Kodera, chief product officer of HTC.
In another corporate re-think, Sony will rename PlayStation Suite to PlayStation Mobile and seek to accelerate the expansion of PlayStation Certified devices further.
