Two console-and-game bundles, one with Killzone Shadow Fall and the other with Watch Dogs, have been lowered in price from £390 to £385.A Sony representative has told CVG that, for these official bundles in particular, the recommended retail price is £385. However, many retail outlets, such as GAME, are still selling the SKUs for £400.
Amazon has slashed the price of the PlayStation 4 Mega Pack down from £450 to £430, undercutting many of its competitors. The retailer, like many others, is also offering customers a package of additional bundles which represent a bigger saving overall.
Why the retailer can afford to make these savings is a complex issue. Amazon UK paid £2.4 million in corporate taxes last year despite making £4.3 billion in sales. The company insisted that it was acting within the law, but its contributions to the UK became part of a nationwide debate on tax avoidance measures.
Sony has set a PS4 release date of November 29 across Europe and November 15 in the US. Microsoft's Xbox One will be released in between those dates, on November 22.
