Apple CEO Steve Jobs has criticised Android Market several times for its supposedly liberal approach to adult content.
However, Google has now confirmed that it too has a zero-tolerance policy on spicier apps, under its new rules for content ratings.
"Pornography is not allowed in Android Market," state the guidelines, which also require developers to rate apps that include suggestive or sexual references as teen, and apps focusing on this content to be rated mature.
Google has famously taken a hands-off approach to approvals on Android Market, stepping in to remove apps after complaints, rather than pre-approving them before they go live on the store.
So is Android now a porn-free zone? Not quite. Like iPhone, users can access anything they want on the web, via their phone's browser. Meanwhile, Android also has its own third-party adult app store, Mikandi.
