Those of you who frequent the GP32x.com forums, at least the older fans, may remember me as ‘the guy who was trying to make an operating system’, or maybe ‘the guy who made the weird penguin avatars’.
After having a lot of fun with my GP32 open-source handheld, my company sort of took over any spare time in my life that my wife wasn’t able to pry me away from my screen, and I dropped out of the scene for a few years.
For those of you who don’t know (which will likely be all of you), I spend my days running a company that develops casual games for mobile devices, mostly using Flash and Flash Lite. We have recently released our first iPhone title, Sheepish (pending contract processing by Apple) based on the PC game by the same name.
On one of my occasional nosies on the GP32x website I see that Gamepark Holdings (GPH) is releasing a new handheld, the GP2X Wiz, that will ship with Flash! Well, I just had to have me some of that, so a few emails later and I have a development kit on the way courtesy of Kyutae Hwang and the awesome team at GPH.
So for those of you interested in this 533MHz, 3D, linux-based, open-source, touch-screen, media-munching handheld, keep your eye on this site for my adventures with Flash. We will be releasing several of our more popular Flash games for free, which will hopefully be pre-installed on the Wiz when it is released.
