Devs in UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain set to benefit from distribution platform's EU debut
The Amazon App Store is now heading to Europe, and developers have been welcomed to to submit apps for the service.
Due to open its virtual doors this summer, the web store will cover the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, and plans are afoot to broaden its reach in the 'near future'.
Amazon's US App Store has become something of a hit, offering tens of thousands of apps and the option to demo product to consumers, as well as functions such as in-app purchases.
"We’ve seen that Amazon gamers are hungry for great content and are willing to open up their digital wallets to pay for it,” said Glu Mobile's CEO and president Niccolo deMasi. "Our latest title launched on Amazon, Frontline Commando, has seen both revenue per daily active user and lifetime value metrics exceed averages as compared to other devices and platforms.
"Taking a successful platform like Amazon’s and expanding it across the globe is going to give us an even broader customer base and create an opportunity to generate even more revenue— something we are very excited about."
