Its the beginning of the Christmas shopping season, and what is the perfect excuse for not going out shopping? A new Yabause release, of course. Other than the version number bump, there's not any groundbreaking changes to the Dreamcast port, but the other versions have some nice improvements to look at. Here's a summary of what's changed:

    vdp2:
    - Fixed a bug in software renderer with rotating backgrounds.
    opengl video core:
    - Added gouraud shading and mesh processing. This is not enabled by default.
    software video core:
    - Fixed user clipping.
    gtk port:
    - Added mouse support.
    - Configuration dialog now displays key names instead of values. Also made it so each different configuration is saved. This broke compatibility with old .ini files.
    windows port:
    - Support for spaces in filenames when using CLI.
    - Added mouse support.
    - Added cheat search.
    general:
    - Added mouse emulation.
    - Added de, es, it, pt-br and sv translations
    - Support for "out of src" build.
    - Fixed compilation for non supported platforms. For instance this should fix compilation on dragonfly bsd. Fixed compilation on GNU/Hurd too.

You can download the release here: https://sourceforge.net/project/show...ease_id=643996 ...

It is the middle of the month of November, nothing is going on, so it seems like the perfect time for a new release of CrabEmu. CrabEmu 0.1.8 has many under-the-hood changes and bugfixes. Here's a look at some of the larger ones:

    • Added preliminary support for the Terebi Oekaki drawing board (Mac OS X only, at the moment).
    • Changed the VDP cache updating function to use a lookup table and other VDP emulation speedups.
    • Practically rewrote the entirety of CrabZ80 to create a much smaller code footprint.
    • Added a much nicer image to the controller preferences dialog on Mac OS X.
    • Fixed color banding issues on the Dreamcast GUI.
    • Added a 50/60 Hz selector to the Dreamcast port when a European Dreamcast is detected.
    • Enabled stereo sound in the Dreamcast port.
    • Fixed an annoying save bug in the Dreamcast port.

Oh yeah, the Dreamcast port finally runs full-speed (at least as much as I've tested it).

Enjoy the release, and be sure to report any issues that you may find. Download it here ...

Today, I bring you the release of CrabEmu 0.1.7. This release contains far too many bug fixes and code cleanups to mention, but here's a selection of some of the bigger changes:

    • Modified sound output to remove branches from the code.
    • Fixed a Dreamcast GUI issue where CrabEmu would crash after loading about 7 roms.
    • Made the Dreamcast port only show the portion of the screen that would actually be visible on the Game Gear.
    • Added a mapper detection function for certain games to detect use of special mappers by the two checksums on the rom.
    • Enabled sound output on the Dreamcast port.
    • Added support for the EEPROM used in certain Game Gear baseball games.
    • Added support for the extra RAM in the Ernie Els Golf cartridge.
    • Added support for the extra RAM in the SG-1000 game The Castle.

Enjoy the release, and be sure to report any bugs that you may happen to find.

The Yabause team is happy to bring everyone a new release today. 0.9.5 has many bug fixes, and other code changes. This time though, I actually had a chance to put together a Dreamcast release too, and there are a few Dreamcast-specific changes this time too. This release has an entirely new CD core for the Dreamcast that is written in hand-optimized assembly. Sadly, optimizing the CD core doesn't do much for speed overall, but it was good practice.

As for what has changed, here's the ChangeLog:

To all the members here at dcemu.co.uk, if you were ever a member at dcemulation.com, this applies to you.

Recently, dcemulation.com was moved to dcemulation.org, as reported here the other day. Well, recently dcemulation.com had a new forum spring up on it. This forum is a fraudulent copy of that on dcemulation.org. Somehow the owner of dcemulation.com managed to get a copy of the database from dcemulation.org. Anyway, if you have any private messages at the old dcemulation.com, I would encourage you to delete them ASAP. Also, to all developers here, if you have ever posted about releases at dcemulation.com, I would encourage you to go to your release posts there and delete them (possibly changing them to a post asking the users to go to dcemulation .org for the news (you must put a space in there, there is a wordfilter against dcemulation.org)).

The new staff at dcemulation.com has already decided to permanently ban me from their site. I suspect that other unfair permanent bans will follow, but the Dreamcast community must stick together through this.

Remember, if you are looking for the old DCEmulation website, it can now be found in its entirety at dcemulation.org. ...
