3DS retained the top spot on the Japanese hardware chart during the week ended March 30.
Sales of Nintendo's portable jumped more than 50 per cent in the final week of the month, ensuring it comfortably held off competition from its nearest rival, Vita.
Japan increased its sales tax from five per cent to eight per cent on April 1, Nintendo Life reports, marking the first rise in 17 years, according to the BBC. This may explain the increase in sales of all hardware platforms (bar PS4) last week, as consumers rushed to purchase expensive items before the start of the month. The Vita version of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd debuted at No.1 on the software chart with just shy of 100,000 sales, while the PS3 edition of Sega's rhythm game came in at No.3.
Sandwiched between the pair was the previous week's bestseller, Mario Party Island Tour, according to data from retail monitor Media Create, which was republished on NeoGAF.
Weekly software sales / lifetime
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd (Vita, Sega) - 98.628 / New
Mario Party: Island Tour (3DS, Nintendo) - 78.098 / 210.767

Nintendo will launch a new Pink + White version of the 2DS in UK on 16th May.
The handheld's colours and release date tie in with the upcoming 3DS platformer Kirby: Triple Deluxe, which arrives in Europe at the same time.Nintendo is listing the new design for £109.99 on its UK online store, the same price as the existing models. The 2DS originally launched last October in Black + Blue and White + Red flavours and had sold more than 2.11m units by the end of 2013.
PS4-exclusive InFamous: Second Son holds the UK games-chart top spot for a second week, keeping Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, Titanfall and new entry Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls at bay.Chart-track's data won't include Battle.net sales of Blizzard's new game, however, which presumably tell a different story. Reaper of Souls enters sixth. It's an InFamous, MGS, Titanfall first, second, third, then, with FIFA 14 fourth and the Lego Movie video game fifth.Obsidian's South Park RPG sticks around in seventh, followed by Call of Duty: Ghosts, Minecraft Xbox 360 and Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD.Capcom's Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright enters 15th, and MXGP: The Official Motocross Videogame 19th.
So far we know most of the things we need to know about LG's G2 mini. Like, we know there will be two processor variants (Tegra 4i for Latin America and Middle East, Snapdragon 400 elsewhere), there's also a 4.7-inch (qHD) display, 1GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel camera. That's all fine and dandy, but what about the price? Well, if a few eager European retailers (one being Amazon) are anything to go by, expect to shell out 350 of your shiniest euros ($480, but will vary by continent) once it finally flips from "aún no ha salido a la venta" to "En stock" sometime in the next couple of weeks.
A new 'Peach Pink' 2DS will launch in the US on April 11, sold exclusively via GameStop.
The US retailer made the new hardware color available for pre-order from today, March 28. The Peach Pink SKU comes with a pink rear case and white front face, with pink buttons and a pink stylus. It also ships with a Disney Magical World carry case, but it will not include the game of the same name.
It will sell for $129.99 - the same price as other standalone 2DS units - and launches April 11, the same day as the US release of the Disney Magical World 3DS game.
First images of the new machine are in a gallery above.
This is the first new 2DS SKU to release Stateside in 2014, following Red and Blue Pokemon-bundled 2DS units which hit shelves in December.
Nintendo revealed 2DS in August. The redesigned handheld plays the entire library of cartridge and digital 3DS and DS titles, but only in 2D. It features a fixed, slate-type form factor instead of the 3DS' folding clam shell design, but maintains 3DS hardware features such as dual screens, wireless connectivity and touch-screen interactivity.
The handheld was designed specifically for younger players and "anyone looking for a more affordable entry point into the world of Nintendo hand-held video games".

Remember the day Microsoft announced its new Surface tablets? Sure you do: there was all the usual pomp and circumstance, and even that keyboard coverthat turned the Surface 2 into a portable DJ booth. One thing that may have flown under your radar, though, was the wireless keyboard adapter, a $60 cylinder-shaped thing that allowed users to control their Surface tablets from up to 30 feet away over Bluetooth (like you do with a 10.6-inch device?). In any case, it looks like the accessory never picked up much traction: Microsoft has discontinued the device, which is now showing up as "out of stock" on Microsoft's online store.

Other outlets including the Microsoft Store are following Walmart's lead by reducing the Titanfall Xbox One bundle to $450. Target, Microsoft and Amazon(with the promo code XIAMAZON) are all offering the Titanfall bundle with the $50 discount, and both Target and Microsoft have the same price on the Standard bundle that includes a Forza 5 code.
The Microsoft Store denotes the bundles as "limited time discounts," so don't expect the reduced price to hang around for long, even if the console got a permanent price drop in the UK. On a side note, our pals at Engadget spotted Amazon getting a bit overexcited this morning after the retailer briefly marked down the Forza Xbox One bundle to $400 with the XIAMAZON code applied. It looks like it was an accident, though, since the bundle is back up to $499 and the code no longer works with it.
