    News via http://www.psp-hacks.com/2010/08/01/...n-96-released/

What’s better than Half Byte Loader Revision 95? Revision 96! JJS, who you know from PSPdisp, made a guest appearance on R96 with a syscall-estimation trick improving overall performance. I won’t get into the technical details, but know this: your favourite emulators should now run at full speed without any specific configuration and homebrew in general should just work better. For example: Opera Mini on PSPKVM now works perfectly.

Below is another example showcasing both HBL R95 and R96 running Daedalus R13 “out of the box” (no specific configuration).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhhP1...layer_embedded

With the above good news comes a little bad news… Sort of, kind of… This update doesn’t improve HBL on firmware 6.20 for PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 models. It does however work on the PSPgo running firmware 6.20; the syscall-estimation trick works on this model (PSP-N1001) with this firmware (6.20), and PSP-1000/2000/3000 models with all firmwares except 6.20. Maybe that’ll change in future revisions. ...

    News via http://www.psp-hacks.com/2010/07/30/...-pops-support/

Y’all cheaters need to update right away if you’re using raing3′s PSPAR… In fact, forget the name PSPAR — it’s TempAR now — and TempAR just got a whole lot better. You’ll see what I mean by glancing over the TempAR v1.1 changes. I’m talking POP support, a NitePR code converter, plenty of fixes, and all around awesomeness.

    Instructions:

Copy the whole TempAR directory to seplugins and add the appropriate line — ms0:/seplugins/TempAR/tempar.prx 1 — to game.txt.
Start your game and press the “Home” button twice followed by a simultaneous press of VOL UP + VOL DOWN.
Enable whatever cheats and press “Note” to activate ‘em.
    Changes, download…

    TempAR v1.1:

[+] Added POPS and homebrew support, thanks to Davee for information on getting the Game ID without the need for the daunting task of parsing the PARAM.SFO. Please note that homebrew PARAM.SFO files need to be patched so the Game ID isn’t the same for all homebrew. Also keep in mind that CWCheat POPS files are not compatible. The codes need to be in either PSPAR or CWCheat PSP format.
[+] Settings can now be saved so there is no need to re-configure on each load!
[+] Added support for loading from different cheat.db files.
[+] Added PC NitePR to PSPAR code converter.
[+] Added comment mode paramater to the PSPAR bin converter. Use 0 to prepend all comments with a # or 1 to prepend folders with _C1 and comments with _C2.
[+] Codes which have no code lines are highlighted and have no Y/N before their name. This is to allow for in-game comments.
[!] Fixed problem loading the colours from a file.
[!] Fixed screenshot option, forgot to set the option in the makefile, whoops.
[!] Fixed the 0xD1 PSPAR code type.
[?] Offset is only added to PSPAR conditional codes if the address used is 0.
[?] Added an aditional check to CWCheat pointer codes to help prevent a crash with bad codes and uninitialized pointers.
[?] Cheat device is now known as “TempAR”. “Temp” because GBAtemp is my online home and “AR” because it supports “AR” codes. To further expand on this the Temp is what CW is to CWCheat and AR I guess is what PR is to NitePR. Plus it can be pronounced temper woot! (thanks to xist for the suggestion). ...

    News via http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64796

There has been alot of reports of "bricked" PS3's with the latest firmware, on the various US Playstation Forums.

Sony has been reported to have made this statement regarding this much heated topic:

    Quote:
“We apologise for any inconvenience you are experiencing with upgrading internal HDD on your PS3,” it told Examiner. “The information available to our Consumer Services Department does not suggest that this is a problem PlayStation owners are likely to experience when upgrading the HDD with 3.41 update.

“SCEA strongly supports the quality of its products and backs them with full confidence. We ask that you update the previous HDD first to see if the update will go through. Then update from the thumb drive that is formatted in FAT 32 and has the 3.41 update downloaded.”

Personally I have see this myself, I have yet be able to replace the HDD, on a PS3 since this update, only been able to fully unbrick the PS3 unit, by wiping clean their original HDD that came with the unit since this update. ...

Reports are the latest PS3 firmware, adds a check to stop "pirated" movies from playback, using a special check on the "audio" track of your DVD-video or Blu-Ray recordable.

This check called "cinavia" has been around since v3.10 firmware, but it seems it is more enabled in the latest firmware, maybe even checking content on your HDD, maybe one of the reasons for so many "bricked" PS3 at 99% looping or crashing with an weird 800x error code.

    Project description:
Last year, I've entered with You Have to Burn The Rope DS, which was a remake of a flash game. I've added a couple of new cool functions, like achievements and mods. I was done with PaLib. This year, I wanted something fresh with an original concept, and to use libnds directly. Here comes Super Extreme Smile.
In this game you are a Smile. A rolling smile... It cannot move, the only way to move it, is to use the touchscreen to ROTATE ALL THE WORLD AROUND IT. The smile is affected by gravity and thus, moving. Every time you rotate the screen, it keeps it's original velocity. Now the fun thing :
You can create your map, save them on the DS, load them again, and send them here, right in this post, so we can all play it ^^
The editor is easy to use. Each tiles are sampled on the top screen, and you can switch screen by pressed L or R. Then you can change tile, zoom, save, load or move around on the minimap. Here is some infos :

-Development started June 28th, I'm alone on this project. My little sister will probably compose music for me.
-There is currently 47 Tiles, there is enough place to put more, but I think it's OK for a Alpha Release. Each tiles should explain itself. If you don't understand it, try it !
-You can save with whatever name you want, 16 characters maximum. And you can always change it afterwards with Windows because loading doesn't care about your name
-Maps are 128x64 tiles. Yes, there is a lot of place
-Collisions should all work, be aware there are sometimes bugs with velocity too high. If something REALLY doesn't work, tell me. Else, try to think of another way (More space between ?)
-THIS IS AN ALPHA RELEASE, I PLAN ON ADDING A LOT OF THINGS LATER (as Music, Sounds, Campaign mode, options, and, yes, ACHIEVEMENTS).
-You can change language with Start while in editor. There is currently only French and English, if someone wants to translate in another language, I'll be pleased to send them the text and add them to the game.

    Screenshots :

    How to use:

Extract the file directly on the root of your DS or
Copy the .nds file wherever you want, then place the smile folder on the root of your card.

    CONTROLS :
    Select - Change mode.

    The game :
    Touchscreen - Move
L or R - Stop Time (Use this)
Motion - Move (While time is Stopped with L or R (not with Touchscreen), DS must be vertical )
Down or B - Restart from checkpoint
Up or X - Restart from start

    The editor :
    L or R Unpressed :
    Arrows or ABXY - Move
Start - Change language in rotation
    Touchscreen - Place tiles.

L or R Pressed (Top screen swapped) :
Touchscreen - Every control (Change tile, save, load, zoom, move around faster)

If you create some kind of cool map, post it here.
If you find a bug, an explanation and a map containing the bug would be really cool.

    Thanks, I hope you'll have fun ! ...

    KNOWN ISSUES
I've been reported that PSP FATs doesn't show the menus properly, but allow to start the game (although you don't see what you select). This may be due to low memory of the PSP FAT. I'm trying to fix this, but it's difficult to fix. Hope you understand.

Hope you like it! If you consider necessary I can release a Linux/Win binary so you can test it more easily.
Can I change the download link if I found a bug until 20th? Thanks!

ThatOtherDev offers version 1.1 of its tech demo "Two Point Five" , a 3D maze . The author uses the same technique used in old DOS games like Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad and Doom he prefers designer 2.5D .

I wanted to update Two Point Five ( A Little Thing demo 2.5d first person I Had done ) a bit . But It seemed to Have Been One Of The Two or Three Wii games That I forgot to backup Past Before a hard drive reformat and reinstall windows . SO INSTEAD I just remade it .

Its Pretty Much The same but with a few " Improvements and additions. The walls are textured ( Used the texture is' Blue ceramic wall tile seamless ' by aubergene ) , There Is Also collision detection and classic controller support .

Did it really take long Remaking it . Starting from scratch isn't really a big deal When You Are not Actually starting from scratch . Its a collage of Borrowed code . As with the original Two Point Five level the IS generated using the Saami maze generation function I wrote for my Aptly named Maze Generator. With the original It Was my first time doing Anything with raytracing and What I ended up writing a tone of trigonometry Involved (Which is slow ) goal this time I just borrowed from James McNeill 's awesome grid based raytracing example. The collision detection IS desired exactly the same as It Is in the more recent release of Maze Generator WHICH IS ESSENTIALLY Sámi the Square is nice circle collision system I wrote for Swing Ball and Have Been Pretty Much Everything for using SINCE.

    v1.1 - August 1 , 2010
    * Walls are textured now .
    * collision detection ( solid walls are now ).
    * Added classic controller support .
