Jet Set GamesTM today announced that HighbornTM, the critically and commercially successful turn-based strategy game for the iPhone and iPod Touch, is now part of the OpenFeint social gaming community. Highborn version 1.1.0 is now live on the iTunes App Store at http://itunes.com/app/Highborn and will be on sale for only $.99 beginning Saturday, July 31 through Sunday, August 8.

In addition to adding the OpenFeint platform for multiplayer gaming, Highborn version 1.1.0 includes a new achievements system along with various improvements and enhancements:

More than 20 single-player and multiplayer achievements to unlock
    Player-to-player chat
Significant improvements to mission loading times
    Enhanced map mode performance
    Various bug fixes
Removed Facebook-based multiplayer (NOTE: all existing Facebook multiplayer games will be deleted in this update)

In celebration of Highborn’s new multiplayer home, Aurora Feint will feature the game on its OpenFeint website and app from August 1—15. Additionally, on Friday, July 30 Highborn will be the Free Game of the Day and featured in OpenFeint’s Game Spotlight app, available in the iTunes App Store.

“OpenFeint is the premier multiplayer community for iPhone gamers and we’re proud that Highborn is now part of it,” said Rade Stojsavljevic, president of Jet Set Games. “We’re thrilled to be able to open up Highborn’s multiplayer to an even larger audience and encourage everyone to give it a try, especially now that it’s on sale for only $.99.”

In Highborn, players are treated to two strategy games that combine to offer an intelligent, tactical experience without the frenetic play of a traditional RTS. Players move forces around an overhead map to secure spells and combat support, then dive into 3D combat to deploy those advantages against an unsuspecting enemy. All the fun and fighting is set against an irreverent tale, filled with wacky heroes, witty dialogue and wild assumptions.

“We’re thrilled that Jet Set Games is bringing Highborn to the OpenFeint player community. It’s a fantastic game that makes perfect use of our new multiplayer technology,” said Eros Resmini, VP of Marketing and Developer Relations at Aurora Feint.

    Features:

A Light Touch – Highborn is a casual mobile strategy game that offers a satisfying experience for players, no matter if they spend minutes or hours in the game.
Time for a New Strategy – Highborn features a unique blend of strategic movement and 3D combat that caters to a variety of gameplay styles and offers a great deal of replayability.
Multiplay at Your Pace – Turn-based gaming enables players to think, then act, in round-based play via OpenFeint’s 31-million-player community. Players can have multiple games going at once, and can trash-talk their opponents in player-to-player chat.
Many Styles of Play – Players unlock hero characters as they progress through the game, giving them access to different abilities and play styles, along with different strategies to use against their opponents.
Achieve Greatness – More than 20 single- and multiplayer achievements to unlock, including judicious use of turns, using units as bait, and making it through an entire mission without capturing support structures.

Jet Set Games is planning to release additional single- and multi-player gameplay for Highborn in the form of in-app downloadable content. The company is also finalizing an iPad-specific version of Highborn for release later this summer, pricing to be announced. ...

In less than seven weeks, the epic battle for humanity’s survival will begin with the launch of the most anticipated game of 2010, “Halo: Reach.” To prepare the millions of fans worldwide awaiting the prequel to the blockbuster “Halo” trilogy, Bungie and Microsoft today released a stunning new trailer that offers a glimpse of the heroic themes and non-stop action in the most ambitious campaign in “Halo’s” history. Featuring a stirring sample of the original score by famed “Halo” composer Marty O’Donnell, the breathtaking trailer showcases several dramatic sequences from the game, including the Covenant invasion of the planet Reach and Noble Team’s effort to take the fight from the planet’s surface to space.

The debut of the new campaign trailer follows a slew of exciting “Halo: Reach” announcements at Comic-Con last week, including the world premiere of two brand new multiplayer experiences in “Halo: Reach”: Forge World and Firefight Versus. Forge World is a vast new environment in “Halo: Reach” with unlimited creative potential that will allow players to create and share their unique map designs over Xbox LIVE. With an epic campaign, diverse competitive and cooperative multiplayer experiences, robust user-creation tools, player rewards, and more, “Halo: Reach” is the most ambitious “Halo” game ever and promises to set a new standard for action-packed entertainment, replayability and customisation.

PlayStation 3 owners! Hide your treasured possessions and cover your pets in bubble wrap, because Explodemon! will be hitting PlayStation Network with a bang this Q4.

Explodemon! is a 2.5D platform action game brought kicking and screaming into the HD era. Influenced by classic Japanese games from the golden era of the SNES, players use Explodemon’s self-destructive nature to combat enemies and fly through the air, all the while solving a huge variety of physics-based puzzles (and, naturally, causing incalculable collateral damage).

When the peaceful planet of Nibia is attacked by the malicious Vortex forces, the fate of the star system is thrust into the one pair of hands it shouldn’t be: the malfunctioning Guardian robot Explodemon. His comic quest to repel the onslaught and restore peace will take him across three distinct planets over twelve levels, with new abilities and gameplay mechanics introduced throughout.

“We’re really excited to finally be able to reveal Explodemon! to the world,” explains design director Jonathan Biddle, from a blast-proof bunker somewhere below the surface of Nibia. “The game is chock full of gameplay nuggets carefully mined from the greatest titles ever to grace our joysticks. Whether you’re experiencing its intense combat, head-scratching puzzles, or classic platforming, you’ll find we’ve combined all of these elements into an addictive and elegantly balanced package.”

Explodemon! is unrelenting, hard-core brain-tickling action for those who grew up playing platformers, as well as those who’ll discover just how awesome they were.

"nail'd", the blisteringly fast off-road racing game from Deep Silver, has inspired members of several Metal bands to compose an entire soundtrack especially for the game.

With its absolutely insane track design featuring unexpected turns, deep chasms and high velocity jumps at breakneck speeds, "nail'd" send players' adrenalin levels through the roof. This is the intense feeling that the musicians wanted to express in their uncompromising, high energy tracks.

Illustrious names from the contemporary Metal scene, including Raymond Herrera and Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory, Arkaea), Pat Lachman (Damageplan), Wayne Static (Static X), Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed), Stephen Carpenter (Deftones), Jed Simon (Strapping Young Lad), and John Boecklin (DevilDriver), have got together in the studio to add a wicked soundtrack to the game.

Together, these musicians have created a rock-hard Metal soundtrack for "nail'd". Besides various instrumentals, it includes three dedicated "nail'd" songs: "Count for Something", "Through Walls of Flame" (sung by Jamey Jasta), and "Decimator" (vocals by Wayne Static). All lyrics were specially written for the game.

In addition, licensed tracks from Slipknot, Queens of the Stone Age, Backyard Babies, Rise Against, American Sixgun, Aggressive Chill, and Slaves on Dope help turn on the heat in "nail'd" even more.

"nail'd" is being developed by Techland and will appear on the PlayStation®3 Computer Entertainment System, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, and PC. The world-wide launch of "nail'd" is planned for the 4th quarter of 2010.

Activision and Nickelodeon today announced the second entry in the videogame series inspired by the number-one live-action show on television with kids 2-11, iCarly. Coming to WiiTM and the Nintendo DSTM family of hand-held systems internationally this Fall, iCarly 2: iJoin The Click! puts the player in the role of the new kid at Ridgeway High, where they will socialize with all the characters from the show and meet up to make new iCarly webisodes.

"One of the unique characteristics of the show and a key factor in its success is the show's interactive integration of its fans," said David Oxford, Activision Publishing. "With the program continuing to reach new ratings milestones and with our first iCarly game being very well received, we've developed a fresh new take on the game that allows fans to immerse themselves in the world of iCarly and to fully interact with its awesome cast of personalities."

In iCarly 2: iJoin The Click!, the adventure starts with the player as a newbie student at Ridgeway who begins to hang out with Carly, Sam and Freddie at locations from the show, such as Groovie Smoothie, the Pacific Place Mall, and even Carly's apartment. While exploring the locations and interacting with the cast, players get to compete in a series of fun challenges and mini-games to help out the gang. Carly wants her webisodes to become an even bigger sensation, so they need the player's help in LIVE in 5! Mode by choosing props for the set, adjusting the crew, and making sure the show goes off without a hitch. For those with a Nintendo DSiTM, the game takes advantage of the system's built-in camera to let the player take shots and import images to customize her look and wardrobe in true iCarly style.

iCarly 2: iJoin The Click! is available internationally this Fall on WiiTM and Nintendo DSTM. The game is not yet rated by the ESRB. For more information visit www.activision.com.
