MTV has launched an iPhone app based on its MTV News, offering a mixture of articles, photos and videos.
The free app covers pop culture, music, TV, celebrities and gaming, pulling in stories from the MTV News site, as well as MTV's stable of blogs.
The app will also be heavily tied in to big MTV events like this week's MTV Movie Awards, including a live video stream from the event and its after-parties.
The app has personalisation features to let people choose which news categories they're interested in, and also create photo slideshows to share with friends.
"Extending the reach of the popular MTV News franchise into the app world provides our audience with an additional platform in which to consume our curated pop culture and music news content," says MTV.com's SVP and general manager Kristin Frank.

Sony has been known for making both handheld and mobile systems for the past decade. With the rumors of a new system (PSP2) debuting this year, could it be just an alternative device to compete with the iPad and iPhone?

Sometime this year, Sony will release their new device, which is expected to include features that the iPad and iPhone have. The software it will be using is Google’s android and it will have the capability of playing games and mobile web.

With E3 approaching in two weeks, we’ll have to wait and see if we’ll have a next generation PSP. Stay tuned.

Nintendo has today revealed a new culinary DS title, 1000 Cooking Recipes from Elle à Table. Created in conjunction with the the titular luxury lifestyle magazine that is itself part of the famed Elle brand, the 'software' promises to guide aspiring foodies through the finer points of creating everything from light meals to three course feasts.
Taking a more high brow approach to interactive recipes than Nintendo's own Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What To Eat? - which was released in 2008 - 1000 Recipes includes features such as a cheese and wine guide by Master of Wine Jancis Robinson and John Farrand, Guild of Fine Food.
That considered, it appears the package is aimed at the older audience attracted by the DSi XL's larger screen and Nintendo's continued drive to welcome more senior demographics.

As well as its four-figure collection of recipes, the new package also boasts voice recognition for hands-free navigation, and a number of special seasonal and camera-based social features.
Released on July 2nd this year 1000 Cooking Recipes from Elle à Table will give users recommendations based on different ingredients, country or season, and promises to add a touch of class to their capabilities in the kitchen.

Remember iFart? The novelty flatulence app was one of the biggest sellers on iPhone's App Store in late 2008, selling more than 100,000 downloads in its first two weeks.
However, developer InfoMedia claims that Apple has rejected a new version - iFart HD - designed for the iPad.
Why? CEO Joel Comm tells TechCrunch that the app was rejected due to having 'minimal functionality', despite another fart app - Farting Zombies - having been approved.
That means no Brown Mosquito sound effects steaming out of an iPad near you anytime soon, until InfoMedia figures out how to add extra features to gain approval.

An Xbox Live version of TV and movie streaming service, Hulu will make up one of Microsoft's big E3 announcements.

That's according to the "very reliable source" of tech site, Gear Live, which reports that Microsoft is set to unveil the Xbox Live version of the service this month.

Apparently, similarly to the other US-only streaming service, Netflix, Hulu will require a subscription fee to use.

It's all guess work at this point as to how much it'll cost exactly, though it's been speculated that Xbox Live users will have to pay for access time (a month, quarter) using Microsoft Points.

Hulu currently allows streaming of TV shows and movies from NBC, Fox, ABC, and many other networks and studios. Even if this does turn out to be true, we reckon the chances of it coming to Europe are minimal.

    We'll contact Microsoft for comment.

In its first strategic reposition ahead of the arrival of the 3DS some time later this year, Nintendo has cut the price of its entire DS range in Japan.
From June 19th the super-sized DSI XL will see its price drop from YEN 20,00 (£150) to YEN 18,000 (£132). The DSi will drop from YEN 18,900 (£140) to YEN 15,000 (£110).
In addition, the platform holder has confirmed that it will no longer issue guidance prices for the DS Lite. The expectation is that retailers will significantly reduce the current YEN 16,800 (£125) asking price.
Nintendo is also releasing three new colours for its current top-of-the-range DSi XL – yellow, blue and green. These will sell alongside the existing wine red, dark brown and natural white.
Though the XL has been well received, it was always going to struggle to match the market impact of previous revisions such as the DS Lite or DSi. The launch of these colours appears on the surface to be an attempt to tap into the DS’ naturally younger demographic.
