Supermarket ASDA will from midnight tonight offer Ubisoft’s Xbox 360 release Splinter Cell: Conviction for just £29.71.
In addition, MCV was told by the North London branch we contacted to confirm the price that we were free to pick up the game right away, several hours ahead of its official UK release date at midnight tonight.
Supermarket price slashing is common on the UK High Street, though this is the first time since November’s Modern Warfare 2 that a title has been targeted for significant day one discounting.
Recent releases such as God of War III, Just Cause 2, Final Fantasy XIII, BioShock 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 proved immune to such treatment. However the market appeal of Sam Fisher has seemingly proved appealing enough to retail so as to trigger off a new round of price slashing.
UPDATE: Amazon has now matched Asda's price and is offering the game for £29.71 online

Emerging retail markets in PAL territories were worth €1.9 billion (£1.66bn) in 2009 - with software sales rising 12 per cent on the previous year.

The achievement stands in contrast to the 4.4 per cent decline in games software sales experienced across Western Europe last year, according to Screen Digest, which studied emerging games markets including Greece, India, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Turkey and the Middle-East.

It found that hardware and software sales combined reached €1.9 billion, while software sales increased 12 per cent on 2008 sales totalling €900 million (£790m).

The growth was attributed to the increased presence of shopping centres and malls in these territories, and by an influx of Western retailers, including Media Markt, Auchan and Carrefour.

PC games remained popular, especially in Russia and Poland, and the PlayStation was also found to dominate, thanks to its long-established presence in these markets, particularly in Russia and the Middle East.

Across the emerging PAL markets the PS2 was shown to have the highest installed base at 11 million (10 per cent more than the UK), PS3 was the most popular current generation console with an installed base of 1.4 million, and the PSP was the most widely owned handheld device at 3.1 million.

Microsoft was shown to have gained a foothold in Russia, Poland and South Africa, with its largest installed base built up in Russia.

Nintendo, which hasn't invested into the emerging markets as heavily as its competitors, has still sold over 1.4 million DS consoles across EMEA regions, but only 763,000 Wii consoles.

"With ongoing improvements in games distribution and retail, these emerging markets offer publishers an increasingly realistic commercial opportunity to tap into," commented Piers Harding-Rolls, head of games at Screen Digest.

"Difficulties remain - cost of localisation and piracy are particular challenges - but with careful selection of content and distribution, games sales in these territories can offer useful incremental revenue."

This is the first release of my project 2ds+.

After Nintendo announced the new NDS (3ds) I tried to show a 3D effect on the NDS by using the two display.

I implemented some rotating cubes displayed in two slightly different perspectives. If you use the “cross viewing” technique, you will see a third object in 3D.

    News/release from lazboy1000

I finally finished the app! (yay) Anybody want to try out the BETA? Leave your feedback below in the comments.

    How to use it
    1. Plug in your PSP and enable USB connection.

    2. You need to select what disk your PSP is. Open the application called "Disk Utility" which is located in Applications >> Utilities >> Disk Utility. Locate your PSP's disk, right-click it and select Information. Now look at the Disk Identifier. It should be disk# where # is a number 1 through 10. (If you see disk1s1 or similar, look at the disk1 part. Ignore the s1 part.) Now select this in the Magic Memory Stick application.

    3. Choose which button you want the DC8 menu to be launched with. You can choose the L and R triggers or have it be launched automatically by selecting "NOTHING".

    4. (Option isn't available in the BETA version) Choose whether you want the GEN-D2 installer to be in your Games folder.

    5. Before clicking "Make the Magic Memory Stick" button, you need to click on the "Click Me First!" button. This will unmount the PSP so the application can inject the IPL.

    6. Click the button "Create the Magic Memory Stick" to create it!

    News via http://team-xecuter.com/xecuter-lt-c...robe-2-update/

We have been extremely busy these past few weeks, so we figured we'd give you one big update to keep you up to speed with whats going on at the Xecuter factory.

    1. Xecuter LT Clip
After a great deal of brainstorming we are pleased to finally announce the perfect solution for all Liteon DVD drives. Utilizing a completely innovative design we have been able to create a special clip that simply plugs onto the Liteon PCB with no wires, no solder and no conductive glue. Simply make your MRA hack trace cuts and connect the Xecuter LT Clip - that's it. We have even included a continuity tester into the circuit. Push a button and if its a Red LED = Bad Trace Cuts, a Green LED = Good Trace Cuts The Xecuter Clip has been designed to work with both the new CK3 Probe 2 and also the new LT Switch 2. Available at the end of April.

    2: LT Switch 2
The latest design in the best selling LT Switch series of products. The LT Switch v2 goes hand in hand with the LT Clip. Once the clip is installed you simply plug the LT Switch v2 into the the DVD drive via its own special DVD Power cable. Note: This does not replace the LT Switch v1.5, it operates the same as the current LT Switch v1.5 which includes the essential Multi-R feature for those difficult 93450 drives - it is designed specifically for the users who don't want to do any soldering or have to take any major risks with their DVD drive. It doesn't get any easier than this !

    3. CK3-CP Update
The long awaited CK3-CP is in its final stages of development. Now includes complete Jungle Flasher integration with full LCD output and its own custom designed menus. Imagine just a couple of button presses would connect to the Liteon drive, auto eject to half tray, auto power cycle to vendor mode and then dump / write the firmware. The first completely functional unit to be designed for all your 360 DVD needs - and much much more. This is the crowning jewel in the CK3 line of products so expect many more updates in the next couple of weeks. For more information on the CK3-CP, it has its own forums here.

    4. NAND-X JTAG Update
We have been doing some further development with JTAG to improve the connections and stability on various different motherboard types and scenarios. After been given 37 different motherboards that all had issues of RROD or intermittent failures - we are pleased to tell you that after several revisions, additions and design changes to the JTAG kit (very different from the first pictures we showed you), each and every single one now works with no errors. We have put a lot of effort into making sure that any type of JTAG kit from us is commercial grade and tested as such, and not just a couple of pcb's with wires and diodes - that simply will not work on a universal scale.
We have put together a bunch of test kits for final analysis by several of the scenes best known JTAG'ers and they will put them through every scenario before they are given the GO for production. This is how its done when the product isn't rushed !

    5. CK3 Probe 2 Update
After taking great care in its development, the new CK3 Probe 2 has been receiving rave reviews. thanks to the co-operation of the JF Team, it is the first and only product of its kind to offer Full Read and Write on all model Liteons (including the Winbond Chipset) without the need to solder in any rebuild PCB, the first and only one of its kind to have dual Probe v1 and MRA function all in one device, not to mention the essential Multi-R feature for stubborn 93450 DVD drives and a circuit protection system when in Probe v1 mode. For the bulk users who want a fast, all-in-one, reliable solution this is the only option for Liteon drives. You can either solder the MRA trace cuts or use conductive glue and have no soldering at all - its your choice.

    6. and finally.......XFRAG Update
We get asked a lot about this Due to all the new projects the XFRAG got kinda put on the back burner. Apologies to those who have waited a long time for us to release. Just to let you know it was sent to our packaging partners for final retail design. Won't be long now lol ...

    News via http://0xff.akop.org/2010/04/14/spark-buzzing-along/

Reception for version 1.1 of Spark has been overwhelmingly positive – thanks to all of you who left positive reviews on Android Market. My 360 decided to thank me for my efforts by finally RROD‘ing, so while I wait “two to three” of the longest weeks for my console to be repaired, I don’t have much of a choice but to continue working on Spark. To whet your interest, here are some previews of what may be coming in the next release. ...
